It really showed how things work in the performing arts schools. Remember 10,000 applications for 200 seats, wow! The movie was about as I expected but not as much dance as I would have liked. I would recommend this be seen by all inspiring young performers as the way to the top really is.

I heard so many things about this being bad- I have to put in my two cents- First if you wanted a remake of the original you will be dissapointed- If you wanted to see how the workings of the Performance Arts school actually worked and see potential future stars it was great. I liked the Karington character- there are really people out there like that and I wanted more of that story line. The mousy charachter who was an actor/singer student was grown up good through the 4 year synopsis of school. But as with the other characters I wanted more- There were some good plots and as another reviewer sugested it would be a great TV show- Sort of like the first one a samling of what could be. This leaves the viewer wanting more- and I don't think that is a bad thing.

Posted: 9/27/2009A review of Fame by Laela19794
I saw Fame tonight with a friend, and it was a nice movie, but I think it would be better suited as a TV show. There were so many characters in the movie, that it was not possible for the director to flesh them out for the audience, given the short amount of time. There were some characters, that I felt were throw away, such as Kristy Flores and Kherrington Payne. Whenever they were on screen, I thought why? They were hardly given any dialogue. Then there were characters like Asher Book's "Marco" that were so one dimensional, it was a bit dissapointing. The same could be said about the story lines. A story would begin and then it would end without resolution - for example Paul Iacono's storyline about being scammed 5k to direct a movie; it ended so abruptly. I will say that Naturi was fabulous - she really got my heart and the performance scenes were really impressive. For all of the promotion and hype this movie got, it could have been better. I would recommend this as a rental, maybe even a matinee, but not $10

If you were hoping for some dramatic script and unusual story line; this is not the movie for you. If you want to be entertained with song and dance by a bunchof young potential newcomers, than you will enjoy this movie. Years from now you will be able to say I remember seeing so and so in the 2009 version of fame when they started out. Every character in this movie has an equal role. I wondered why? May be there were a bunch of real life personalities that needed to be dealt with equally. Or may be that is the way Debbie Allan and the produceres thought it should be. The adult roles hold the story line together and give the kids good role models, too.
