I don't like those kind of movies i think that they just leave you with a bad picture in your mind! But I have never forgotten the movie! I would recomend this movie if you like sex movies! Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful  Eyes Wide ShutPosted: 7/8/2004A review of Eyes Wide Shut by poetleeah eyes wide shut seems one of kubrick's most mellow movies, but beneath what seems to be more 'normal' subject matter is one of his deepest insights into the turmoil and dysfunction of the human heart. <br><br>this movie is difficult to watch at times because you are forced to relate to these charecters in painfully awkward and human situations. kubrick looks at what it means to live disappointed, to feel impotent, to reach beyond one's own real abilities not to succeed as hollywood so often pretends, but to fail. <br><br>kidman and cruise's mutual treatment of one another, that of a surface kindness but intense underlying cruelty, is familiar to the american experience that expects so much but receives so little. kubrick has exposed marital distance very powerfully in this film.<br><br>finally the sexual perversion in this film seems appropriate to kubrick, but doesn't add so much to the film. the more powerful scenes tend to be watching the couple's interactions with eachother and other charecter's in the movies. Mainly because it was billed as 'they did a bad bad thing' and nothing really happens except for some innocent fantasizing. However, even then I was awestruck with its beauty. As long as you're not going to watch this movie with the weight of hype, it's highly enjoyable and improves with repeated viewings. Perhaps the most out there scene was the unmasking, when they were about to stick it to Tom. Think about it. It's no Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf or Suddenly Last Summer, but still intriguing. Regardless that Tom Cruise was in it or not this is a movie that he should of passed on.<br>Unfortunately film makers think just because you have a well known actor in a movie that movie will do well. Kubrick is a mastermind at layering meaning and symbolism, sometimes to the point of making the viewer feel too dumb to understand the film. Although it was an odd film, yes, I think the point was to evoke emotions that we all don't want to admit we have. Kidman is an acting genius and we are always lucky to see her on screen. No disrespect to the late Mr Kubrick but this was a bomb. I kept watching with fascination thinking it would all become clear at some point, but it didn't. When the screen went blank at the end I was left with a feeling of disillusionment. There had to be more to it. It was like eating the first piece of popcorn and then not getting anymore.
