From the opening credits, John Carpenter's masterful score (which is as good as the music in Halloween and Assault on Precinct 13) grabs you. Kurt Russell was perfect as Snake Plissken. The fight scenes are some of the best on film. Sure, the special effects are crude, but for its time (1981), it held up pretty well. No matter how many times I've watched this movie, I've always came to the same conclusion: I love it. No wonder this film has a cult following. Rent it, just to see what I'm talking about.
