Not a bad movie, but if you are going to see it, read the book first. if you dont, you will probably start tearing the hair out of you head and your screen will be in trouble when you realize there is no way to get to the producer and throttle him. the movie doesnt follow the story plot, characters, places, or actions except for the absolute minimum it possibly could. if they make a sequel, it will probaly be worse than the first, since it will have almost nothing to build on from the previous one. if you value your sanity, read the book before watching the movie.

Horrible. That's all I can say. Both me and my friend read the book and then went to see the movie. I would have rather stayed home and eat dog crap, puke it up, then eat it again. They took a beautiful book written when the author was only 17, and turned it into one of, no, the worst book-to-movie I have ever seen. I would give it a 0 if I could. Please, read the book!

Eragon, The title of the movie remains the same as the main character, how unoriginal. What kind of name is that for a boy anyhow? Change 1 letter and you have the word dragon. I think we have a case of laziness on the part of the writer. This feels like every story we have heard since time began. Is it quite simply just another excuse to display breathtaking visuals? Which the film relies heavily upon. Loaded with clichés, uneventful scenes, and forgettable characters. The main focus of the movie should be the involvement of the dragon in the plot; however more emphasis is placed upon the boy, who fails all of our expectations of a charismatic, independent, virtuoso. Thankfully the splendid design and animation of Sepheira captures the imagination and distracts from all that is lacking. This movie is a poor attempt at a fantasy of epic proportions, leaves the viewer dissatisfied, and uninspired, despite how stunning the dragon figure may appear. Still an entertaining excursion.

me and my friend went to the movie theaters 3 times and saw it!It is allot differnt than the book but it is an AWESOME movie.Saphira is adorable and strong(though they chose the wrong person to do her voice).Sure the dwarves look humanlike as do the elves but it still is a great movie. The director messed it up i agree. They took out allot of charecters and made it barley impossable to fallow ELDEST in the movie.I mean he is supposed to go to Elesmeara with arya and orik but no she said they wouldnt meat in a while and he would stay to prepare the Varden!Where were the twins?Solembum? The prophecey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!hopefully all angry letters will make them add all this in the 2nd movie they will have to make up for their mistake.IF YOU RED THIS SEE THAT THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE.DONT LISTEN TO BAD REVEIWS SEE IT FOR YOURSELF!!!EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN OPINION.

Eragon was a very decent, but the only same things about the movie and the book that were the same are the title, the names of the charaters, and the dragon, but the story was complitly different. But I saw the movie before I read the book. And was complitely surprised that everyone was right about it. I hope Eldest isnt as terrible as Eragon. But still the action and fantasy was impressive. But not great enough to make it better. But still you got to make some cuts to the book, but shouldnt be this much. BTW, Eldest is the sequal to Eragon.

I think the movie was great!! As someone having read the book - which I thought was a good story, although tedious to read (someone used the Thesaurus a bit much I think). After reading the first book, I had no desire whatsoever to read the second. After watching the movie which was far better than the book, I have ordered the second book to give it another try. I loved the animated Dragon and the visual effects I found stunning. I do feel that there was a lot of LOTR nuances in the book itself and even a touch of Stephen Kings The Dark Tower.... But as for the movie itself, I thought it was great! My whole family enjoyed it and watched it twice in two days after we rented it.

This movie was probably one of the WORST movies I have seen in a very long time. It would have been ok, if I hadnt read the book. But, being the fantasy fiction guru I am, I did read the book. My excitement for the movie was there. A bunch of my friends and I even created t-shirts just for the occassion. We were all very disappointed in the movie. It hardly followed the book at all. The movie went so out of order that it is IMPOSSIBLE to have a sequel. Maybe its just that there were too many similarities between Eragon and LOTR, so it was made to look like it had no relation at all. I actually think it would have been a lot better if the elves would have looked like elves, the dwarves would have been dwarf sized, and it would have followed the book more, instead of mixing almost every event up.

This movie was NOWHERE NEAR AS BAD AS PEOPLE ARE SAYING! First, Ed Speelers is an attractive boy and a likable hero while Jeremy Irons was great as the older hero Braum. When he died I was sad. Then the dragons the CGI was not horrible I rather liked looking at Saphira and comparing her niceness to the other evil dragons. She did have a growl and she used it several times maybe some reviewers werent paying attention. Also, please dont compare this movie to the horrible Reign of Fire (that movie was 100x worse). The sets, costume design etc were lovely I have no idea what the reviewer is talking about. None. All in all, I am glad I took 2 14 year old boys to Eragon. 1 had read the book and 1 hadnt and both liked the movie well enough. Granted the 1 who read the book had some minor complaints but that happens no matter which book is turned into a movie. I, for one, actually liked this movie even though I am not a forgiving geek as the AMG reviewer said.

Having read the book first and really enjoying it, I was looking forward to seeing the movie to see how it compared. While the effects and scenery were very good, the movie cant hold a candle to the book. The story was butchered and I believe left out some very important parts. Not to mention the parts that it completely changed. I am very surprised that Christopher Paolini allowed this to happen to his novel. I have just begun reading the second book and I cant figure out how the screen writers are going to correct the mistakes they made with the first one. If you have read the book, dont watch the movie. If you havent read the book the movie is just OK.
