Macy, Julia Stiles, Joe Mantegna, Denise Richards and Mena Suvari star in Edmond it tells the story a man who realizes that his life is totally meaningless and decides to embark on a spiritual quest. But instead, he ends up getting mugged and rejected in the streets of New York. Just in time for a mental breakdown.
Low budget and independent film like Edmond are sometimes better then big movies like Mission Impossible. And that is true Edmond is a good movie that was shot in sixteen days with the film budget of only one million dollars.
The Film is only 76 minutes long and in those minutes William H. Macy is the only one who is in every scene. We met Joe Mantegna first at a bar where he talks with William H. Macy for about five minutes and his time in the film is over. We then met Denise Richards who is only in the film for maybe one, one and half minutes if that. Then Mena Suvari comes into the mix for only about five minutes. And then we met Julia Stiles and she is in the film for the longest time then the other three but only for about 15 minutes give or take a minute.
So if want to you can have a stopwatch and time everyones screen time and see if I am right.
Not many people have herd about this movie and even more are not going to see it and probably not going to read this review but if you want to see a good movies you have to look for them.
Edmond is not the best thriller in the world but I am giving it four stars because it is well made and well put together and does not go out of the circle that the it revolves in and becomes a dangerous thriller.
After seeing this film when you yourself want to embark on a spiritual quest pick another city besides New York City. Was this review helpful? Macy, but not in this movie. Dont waste your time... Was this review helpful? I can handle controvercial movies that go over the edge and sex and violence. But this movie had no point and was so inconsistent.
I love William H. Macey as an actor and he did an amazing job in this film.. BUT .. this playwrite turned film left me slightly disturbed and extremely disapointed.
the writing was sloppy and made no real signifigant points. all the intense scenes were just offending and uncalled for.
and most of the characters were so off and on you got bored with how unrealistic any of the characters were
this movie had more loose ends than it did solid thoughts and it was a very pessimistic let down
its sole purpose and only reaction was to make you disgusted and glad youre not edmond.
and the moral of the story is .. dont go see tarot card psychics after work and youll be alright. Was this review helpful? And despite agreeably short running time and committed perfs, Edmond is rendered inert by its stagy atmosphere and failure to fully mine the depths of its protagonists complex psyche.
This is for hard-core David Mamet fans only.
Adapted for the screen by Mamet from his 1982 play and directed by Stuart Gordon, maker of the cult horror film Re-Animator, Edmond serves to remind you how artificial the dialogue and dramaturgy truly was in early Mamet. It didnt like it. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 9 users found this helpful Posted: 4/22/2006A review of Edmond by Alshndawy1 kji hfdgdycbcydb dgdgfdhfy dghdgdd Was this review helpful?
