Date  Helpful Rating 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  extraordinary productionPosted: 7/11/2008A review of Dreamgirls by beastyboldbank i have read the reviews from different people posted here and on other sites as well. i think its a wonderful Movie. very different from other musical movies we watch usualy. a very good production, marvolous editing and music mixing is unexpectidly very good. the live performances of Jennifer hudson and Eddie Murfee, i beleive the cast was one big surprise for everyone when it comes to the perfect artist to play its part at perfect place. though Effie white's character should be the main lead but everywhere i can see is Deena Jones mentioned in newspapers and when specialy it comes to the Oscar's nomination. whole the team deserves the appreciation and congratulations for the wonderful performances Was this review helpful? Jennifer Hudson know she played that role. I see why she won the part. Congrats to her on her oscar win also. As for me I love this movie and Im sooo glad Jennifer Hudson won her Oscar because she truly deserved it. Every actor and actress in this movie did a great job, and the directing was just amazing. You might even say the movie reminds you of all the ol school artists in this film and their story (Diana Ross and the Supremes, James Brown, etc.) . Overall, it was a job well done and Im glad a movie, with African American cast, came out on top with this one! Was this review helpful? I noticed that majority of the ones who criticize this movie seem ignorant and do not appear to know any knowledge talent, musicals, and theatre peformance. Jennifer Hudson did a great job and deserves every awards and accolades known in the entertainment industry. However,the only thing I regret is the great focus on Beyonces role. Her character did not have much of a speaking role or coverage so why in the world she was nominated as Best Actress for the Golden Globe-shes more of a supporting character for Jennifer Hudsons role. Going to Dreamgirls you know it will be a musical, you know people will sing and you know that people dont burst into song spontaneously. People love to hate beautiful things. I loved this movie. Ive seen it 2 times. I always leave feeling better. Great music, good acting and a story about redemption even when life takes us in directions we didnt expect.
I never saw the broadway musical so I cant compare. On its own merits, it is one of my favorites movies of the year. Go see it and enjoy the fun. Was this review helpful? The movie itself was not very entertaining at all. The charcters were like planted trees. It seemed that every move was going to happen before it happened. Why does Ms B have to be the center of attention. Shes not a real singer and I hope she knows that sooner or later the face and body will go to waste. If she wants to play in real adult movies well learn how to act first. Hudson on the other hand came in and did what she had to do to make a living and I must say she will make a living.
All in all this movie could have been much better with serious ACTORS. Was this review helpful? I was brought up singing and so Maybe thats the reason but it was awsome. The singing feels like it was coming strait from the pit of their stomachs. It gives you goose bumps on top of your goose bumps when they belt out these songs. Awesome movie, I would suggest it to anyone. I came home and bought the soundtrack from Itoons for my player. AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME, WOULD WATCH AGAIN AND AGAIN (I have to really like a movie to watch it over and over). Was this review helpful? it also has a meaning of believing in yourself what it means to have the freedom to make choices for yourself and not have anybody making choices for us I would reccomend it to anybody if you havent to see that type of a movie I would encourage you all to go see it. Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson made the movie worth seeing again. Beyonce needs more acting lessons and her role in the movie was that she made nice eye candy (sorry B, not sure why you received a Golden Globe nomination for best actress).
