But it has some deep, kind of hidden messages. The one that triumphs over all the others is the fact that you cant un-do your actions. Frank was only a symbol and if you look at him as a giant bunny rabbit and ONLY that, popular culture has rotted your brain and you need to do something thats even remotely intellectual.
I also dont understand why this movie is classified as comedy, because its really funny, but that doesnt mean it isnt a powerful drama. Was this review helpful? Amazing. Jake Gyllenhaal was a perfect Donnie. If I ever have a kid I will name it Donnie Darko despite how (for lack of a better word) stupid that is. Go and watch this movie right away. I was disappointed at the end, because I felt like there should have been more to fill in the empty spaces. However it is definately worth watching. As Donnie had did in the movie, I love that in the ways of Frank and all the pranks that Donnie had done it was all the stuff he would have have done but wished to do with the burning down the house or with flooding the school really I see as if we all have a Frank in all of us with that little voice in the back of our minds and some of us lisson and of-fill what it had told us but in others we hide away that little voice as if we don't hear it.Whats most known in this movie is that these people live all in one plain way thats how it seems in the being but more and more you start to see the real person inside , with Jake Gyllenhall he can play those parts with a dark art way which others can't,him playing Donnie it really shows the true ways of Donnie .I saw not thing wrong with this movie it had you coming for more and more as the movie goes on so I think that every one should see this movie. Acting is superb, obviously overlooked at awards time. Stunning filming and direction. Very long but absorbing. I missed it in the theaters the first time and now it seems I have missed it again. I have watched it so many times that I have every moment memorized. The music is perfect as well and that is what gives a movie its umph! Well written and acted. The actors were chosen perfectly for this movie. Everyone should see this "MUST SEE" movie. Only a few movies can be good and make you think. It shows how selfless a person can be too, by the way Donnie let himself die to save those people. Oh, and Frank is my best friend. But BLASPHEMY.
