This film was a waste of money. Disney has lost touch with its audience with this one. Animation, with the exception of Scrooge, was second rate. The ghost of Christmas past was silly with Carrys idiotic mugging and woooooooy ghostie voice. Young kids will be scared out of their whits by Marley. I am sure nightmares will follow. Disney needs to turn it up a notch.

This movie is amazing! The animation is incredible with wonderful attention to detail. Visually, it's a joy to watch. I think it's worth watching for that alone. The 3D was also very good. I suggest seeing it in 3D. I don't think this is a movie for small children. Younger children might find it scary. It's rather dark, and stays true to the story(there are a few deviations, but they enhance the 3D experience). If you don't like the story, you won't like this movie. Jim Carrey was perfect in the roles he played! He really brought out each character and made them unique. It's a heartwarming story that never gets old. It's comforting and cozy.

I'm disappointed with all of the negative reviews; this movie is brilliant! A Disney movie starring Jim Carrey doesn't mean it's going to be a comedic movie for children! If you love Dickens' A Christmas Carol, you MUST see this movie. If you don't, DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE! This movie is NOT for young children, but it's an amazing rendition of the Dickens' classic.

I am a big fan of the Christmas Carol. Disney's version was true to the book with outrageously cool graphics and fantasy. Hats off to Disney with this masterpiece. I would see again for sure!!

This movie was beautifully animated, with careful attention to historical detail. Lovers of the original book will be impressed at how closely the film follows Dickens' story, right down to the jaw dropping off of Marley's face. (A few liberties were taken to fit some more action sequences in, mainly in chase scenes through the streets of 19th century London.) People who claim Dickens "would be rolling in his grave" have clearly never read Dickens. The book was not written for children, and niether was this movie (parents be forewarned - this is a ghost story and will likely frighten your kids), but it is beautiful nonetheless. It also features a beautiful score with some classic Christmas music. A refreshing change from the usual "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"-esque holiday films, but not one that the whole family will enjoy.

Posted: 11/16/2009A review of Disney's A Christmas Carol by omarali85
Let it not be forgotten that the story of this film was based on a classic novel, and it seems, this time, Disney doesn't want to leave out all the details (such as the main character's nephew at the Christmas dinner). But, looking at this movie, this might be Disney's best version of "A CHRISTMAS CAROL", when compared to the Mickey Mouse or the Muppets version of the same film. (Although, to admit, the Muppet version of ACC was a bit funnier and more fun to kids.) Apart from the implemented CGI technology, which gave the film a thrilling, realistic look-and-feel, I found the main character weird-looking, but very entertaining, and a good blend of music in each scene. This film is not "wow" or amazing, but it's a temporary get-away for some during the holiday season, at least.

Initially seeing the preview for this movie, I was very excited. A wonderful classic Christmas story mixed with one of my favorite actors, Jim Carrey. The original storyline is dark itself, but this movie is way too dark and extremely graphic for little children. Because of it's 3-D animation, viewers are led to believe it is a movie suitable for young moviegoers. However, this is not the case. I found myself covering my child's eyes(she couldn't do it herself because she had her hands in her ears to mute the extremely high noise level), for most of the movie, hoping it would get better or at least less scary for her. I am disappointed I couldn't just relax during the movie without worrying about when I had to shield her from the next graphic scene.

So disappointed!! This movie is horrible, I thought it never would end and it was just the beginning, my child hated it and he is 10, he wasn't scared, he said it was stupid, but I definetly wouldn't take a young child to see this. They should reimburse everyone who bought a ticket to see this mess. I felt Ripped off even the 3D didn't help, I hate to spend my money on this kind of junk, oh well.

It was an entertaining movie and kept close to Dickens. But it was on the scary side for younger children. we saw some families walk out on Marley and on the death of Christmas Present. We stayed so our boy could see the happy ending. The scenes of 1840 London were great. Just be cautious with younger children.

Jim Carrey gives every performance his all. Loved it, so did my kids. My kids were more afraid of some of the Halloween costumes in Wal_Mart. Some movies become traditions for the season, this will be one.

I can't believe people have issues with the scary scenes, that's part of the story line. Jim Carey was superb. This movie will be a must see every Christmas. I rank it with the Polar Express.

A Christmas Carol... Nope, Try A Christmas Horror! I was horrified with the amount of demons, ghosts and skeletons, i.e., Marley’s Ghost lower jaw came unhinged, Scrooge falls into his casket, doorknobs that turn into demons, etc… Creepy doesn’t even cover it! Several scenes were undeniably "Hollywood Amped Gratuitous Nonsense!" They were completely unrelated; added nothing to better tell this classic Redemptive Christmas Tale. The graphics were amazing. Most of the adults in the theater were commented how scary they made this movie. Definitely Do Not Bring Your Children!

Jim Carrey evokes a pretty strong response. Either you love him or can't stand him. I feel this Christmas Carol is above average, mostly because it is truer to the novel than the previous films. You show people a bit more of the grittier bits of the novel and they can't believe it's the same story. I have to agree the voice of Christmas Past was a bit unsatisfactory and Christmas Present's persistent laugh gets tiring. But the terror Scrooge is feeling seems more real. There's just one nagging question for me. It seems the main reason Scrooge changed his attitude is because Christmas Yet-To-Be showed him he was going to die that day much more than anything to do with saving Tiny Tim.

Lets face it. If you have seen the other versions of this movie there is nothing new to explain. The only reasonI went is cause the wife wanted to see it. Thought maybe with Jim Carrey doing the voice it would have some funny stuff....Nope. The 3-d was kinda cool but would rather have sat out in lobby with glasses on staring at the movie poster.
