Me and my wife have just watched death sentence and i feel compelled to tell you what we thought.........IT IS BY FAR THE WORST film we have seen in ages! The writing is terrible, i wish it could have been at least if not serious, FUNNY. Its neither ! WHAT A LET DOWN !!! Kevin You need to thing long and hard about you credibiity because your on a slippery slope being part of a film like this. WE ARE SO DISSAPPOINTED.LIFES TO SHORT DONT BOTHER!!!!!! Such disregard for anything resembling reality. The violence, noise, and smash bam, are so overdone as to become disgusting. We waited to see if it would ever get better, but alas, it just got worse. We don't know how it ended, but after 1:30 minutes of pure garbage, we left! Was this review helpful? Talk about MIXED reviews! This movie was awesome! It's not very often that I come across a movie that can make me "jump" like a horror movie, keep me on the edge of my seat from suspense, AND make me spend so much time crying. The acting from the incident that started everything was great! You can feel, relate, and sympathize with Kevin Bacon's character and Kelly Preston did an amazing job too. I guess I loved the acting more than anything but it shouldn't take away from the fact that the movie was great. Was this review helpful? Wait for DVD. Was this review helpful? John Goodman , well he saved his part. but the shooting and running through the alley ways , what was it 5-6 guys and no one hit Bacon. please they should have had a hand full of Rocks!! no wonder it was me and Four others!! to see the movie everyone listened to the reviews Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 9/6/2007A review of Death Sentence by Britt159 This is the worst movie I've seen in a long time!! The acting and directing were horrible. The parking garage scene was not believable at all to me! If these bad guys were really so "bad" why did they all have such terrible aim, Kevin Bacon's character was running about 10 feet ahead of them but yet their bullets kept missing him!! The ending was an absolute mess too. Thankfully I had a gift certificate to the movie and I didnt have to spend my money, otherwise I'd really be upset. Was this review helpful? I felt for Kevin Bacon's character & was rooting for him all the way. The part in the parking garage was well made & unbelievably real.
I can't believe that this movie hasn't made the money that it deserves. Go see this & skip idiotic movies like Halloween, Super Bad, Balls of Fury...etc. etc. Was this review helpful? The war he stages is emotional and intellectual with physical elements. Another great movie based on his book is Hopscotch with Walter Matthieu. This movie is disappointing. Was this review helpful? I noticed so review spoke about revenge , but what about good acting and directing!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 9/2/2007A review of Death Sentence by amsotelo I was very reluctant to see this movie because of the violence, but let me tell you is totally justified. For all who are sick and tired of crime not paying off, this one is a great revenge movie. The good father vs. the bad father, the loving family vs. the dysfunctional and criminal one. And it has its comedic moments too. Pretty disturbing how it portrays the police and legal system totally incompetent to fight crime.
I liked it and recommend you see it. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 9/1/2007A review of Death Sentence by seniorintx I should have known better. I did not pay enough attention to the Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 9/1/2007A review of Death Sentence by Toreye This is an excellent movie. The tragic experience of the death of a son is depicted with a surreal realism; one in which the most extreme reaction (of going on a killing spree) is presented by the director as an earnest determination of a man trying to pursue justice, and protect his family. Some would no doubt argue that this is a cliche-ish rendering of a man beoming a killer for truimph of barbarism, but the reality of the sub-urban white vs. the inner city whites was a refreshing look at the use of violence that many would shun despite its disclosure of a very human side of survival, family, and conflict.
A must see movie. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 8/31/2007A review of Death Sentence by Lattegato1 GO SEE THIS MOVIE!! SUPPORT YOUNG LOCAL ACTORS!!! This movie is an action thriller about a family & business man taking vengence on the gang who killed his son. So yes, you can expect it to involve guns, shooting, gore, car chases, body parts shot off, and more. But this movie also includes several young up and coming actors, my favorite one being Juan Carlos Guzman, who plays Sammy the bartender at the Four Roses, the local dive and hang out for the gang members. In a memorable scene, where Kevin Bacon's character isn't about to take crap from anyone, he beats down on anything in his way, specifically Sammy's face! The young man who plays the emergency room doctor in a few scenes is also a relative newcomer to the screen. Directors who support unknown actors like these, end up making movies that feel real, in the moment, unpredictable. Also, the action footage, where the director had the cameraman run after Kevin Bacon, rather than have the camera sitting still, made the movement and feeling of the chase so much better and more riveting. If you like action thrillers, I would recommend this movie. And no, its not a romantic date movie. No kidding. Was this review helpful? Didn't realize how much blood and killing would be involved in this movie. I like Kevin Bacon and he does a good job but if you're
looking for a good date movie skip this one. Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
