Jennifer Connely plays Dahlia Williams who moves into a new apartment with her young daughter, Ceci. Her new Place is run-down and cramped she keeps on hearing mysterious noises and a wierd black watery liquids begins leaking through the ceiling. Dahlia must stop this before it turns worse and could bring her to her death. The movie was good it had great thrilling moments it keeps you guessing until the end with a big surprise you wont suspect. It is a good movie you will injoy.

I have to say that I dont agree with the mayority of you, I really liked this movie, I really did. I dont know what you want from a movie, it has what it takes to recommend it. I recommend it to watch it first, then...write what you think about it. Is not fair if you havent watch the movie to write a comment to put it down, doesnt make sense, does it? So watch it! Then give your opinion. Thank you.

Posted: 1/2/2006A review of Dark Water by sheinabr
I have seen some bad movies in my days, but this one took the cake. It became truly painful to watch and when it was finished I wanted to send a bill to someone to make up for my wasted time. It was not scary, it was not funny, there were not any thrills whatsoever. This movie has no redeeming value. Do yourself a favor and watch an older favorite like Psycho, The Ring, or Hide Seek. Do not bother with this movie.

Its obvious that these days, there are no shortages of good actors, there are only shortages of good stories. This movie is completely carried on the backs of the fine performances by top notch actors. You know, at this point you ask yourself, why dosent Jennifer Connnelly , Tim Roth , Pete Postlewaite and the guyfrom Boogie NIghts, just come up with their own story? I would bet good money, these fine actors could come up with a story far superb than this tired old soybean of a flick. A waste of their time and mine too, although it did provide reaffirmation that there is still hope out there for our favorite actors , if they can just work through these times of boring , used , tired old scripts until the day comes when a wave of interesting , new , and invisionary screen writers comes along.

This movie was terrible. Yes, I grudingly admit the acting was excellent and the camera work quite creepy. But seriously, what was the point? It was not scary enough to be a horror movie. It was not tense enough to be a thriller, there were NO thrills. It was just sad. What was the purpose of watching something so sad? We live in a sad world right now, lets all lighten up for a second and watch... Must Love Dogs! Now THAT was entertaining.....

This movie looked great on trailers, and I love the Ring, but when I saw it, it was the same story as the Ring, different characters. NOTHING was scary or frightening, waste of your money.

I veiwed the Japanese original Dark Water a few years back and simply adored it, the atmosphere, the direction, the acting. And so, when i found it was being re-made, I was pessimistic, i will admit. But, upon release, i went to the theater to see it, and i feel in love with the film all over again. Despite some very minor changes, it rang true to its original form, and Jennifer Connellys acting was sincere and heart-felt. The re-make captured the silent and forbidding gloom of the original Dark Water, and wonderfully captured the tension and apprehension felt by the actors. A truely perfect and eerie re-make.

This movie is a combination of "The Grudge" and "The Ring". It combines different parts of both the movies such as when stuff come out of the sink, from "The Ring" and when a face shows up in the elevator window while riding it, from "The Grudge". C'mon this move has NO form of being Unique. I must admit I jumped a little. But not as much as I did in "The Grudge" or "The Ring" Please don't waste your money renting or buying this movie. Wait till' it comes on HBO and you can say, "Oh that person who reviewed the movie on MSN was right!".

and as others have stated, it seems that the film could have been way scarier and we expected it to be. The water-water-everywhere theme was not fully explained - you have to assume a lot. The stars are more than adequate qnd the film has it's moments and is definitely dreary if not always scary. I dunno. This story was almost too small and simplistic for a full budget movie - maybe?

I think the movie is for everyone. I think the movie is like "The Grudge". The plot is about a mother and her child that move to an apartment that is in a desolate area. The room, 10F, was flooded by a girl and the room also had a leak from the roof. I would not recomend this movie to a friend. It was not a horror movie at all.
