Date  Helpful Rating 1 out of 1 users found this helpful  I Miss Joan JettPosted: 10/12/2007A review of Crossroads by Leslie0478 Everytime this movie was on as I channel surfed, it was the same exact scene I sear it was almost eerie. The girls realize they don't have gas money right in front of a truck stop where there just happens to be a Karaoke contest going on. What a co inky dink! Wouldn't it be something if singing star Britney Spears character won that $400.00 prize and saved the day?? Co inky dink again!!!! Most bars use Karaoke as a form of free entertainment to save money rather than throw it away. In the words of Kevin Costner to Joe Pesci in JFK (a truly great movie with real actors): "We find your story simply not believable." And that about sums it up...that and the fact that Britney's version of " I Love Rock and Roll" must have Joan Jett suing for damges. I mean, it's that bad ... she can't even cover a one hit wonder and get it right. Naturally, in this scene the patrons at the bar harass the three girls for a minute as they take the stage and then moments later "I Love Rock and Roll" performed Brady Bunch style has the whole audience applauding like the girls showed those dirty old men they had real talent.
The next scene before I went back to bed has them getting in the car with someone they thought was a nice guy who starts acting real angry. They find out he's a convict but decide to let him ride along anyway because we all know that it's the dream of every red-blooded American girl to travel halfway across the country with some perfect stranger who happens to a convict or something. (I've seen this on America's Most Wanted - seriously) but just when you start to think that this creep might inject a little reality into this Brady Bunch MTV crap, the convict decides to leave the girls or something. Apparently, he was a bad guy, a loner, an outsider and an undesirable or maybe he was just plain bored. He was a wiser man than I thought. Was this review helpful? What a moron! Anyway, I saw the last half of this movie, "Crossroads", on HBO (HAHA). All I can say is -- this movie is NOT for kids. If you're a parent, don't let your little girl see this. Britney Spears, as beautiful as she is -- is a corruptor of children. This movie only further proves that very fact. In her movie "Crossroads" there's underage drinking, teenage pregnancy, running away from home and disrespecting your parents, losing your virginity to a guy that just got out of jail -- definitely NOT a movie for kids. This movie was boring and dull, with a stupid plot. Come'on, the guy (think his name was Ben) whips out a music song he wrote that goes with her so called poem "I'm not a girl, not yet a woman" and creates the song. Awwwwww. Um, can we say LAME? Overall, even watching the last half of the movie on HBO was a waste of my time. I'm ashamed this movie was ever made, since it is a bad influence, just like Spears -- on children. The movie is not orginazed, the plot is just plain stupid, and the acting is incredlbly horrific. It just &*^*s. Britney Spears should never have tried acting. When her nascar movie comes out, it is most likely 100% going to get blasted by many critics and many people, including me. When that movie bombs in the box office, I'll be sitting there laughing at all the pachitic people who spent their money watching a dumb movie with Britney Spears in it, when they could of been watching a good movie like The Butterfly Effect or Ginger Snaps 2! Horrid acting, horrid story, and little girls shouldn't be exposed to hearing about sex. Britney was supposed to be a role model for younger girls, but now with this movie and her "In the Zone" album... we won't be seeing her on Nickelodeon anymore. Overall, worst chick-flick ever. I'm a guy, who enjoyed "A Walk to Remember" (Britney could learn to act from Mandy Moore) and "Under the Tuscan Sun." One of the worst movies I've ever seen, and I usually give a movie a chance. It showed friendship through wonderful acting and awesome song and dance. Not only that, it combined three races.. i think it should get a nobel peace prize!<br> I cried when the mexicans baby died. It was sooo tragic. i laughed when they did something funny.. i cant recall when that was but i know it happened.. i related to their road trip because i know thats what my road trips are like!<br><br>see this movie over and over and over!
