This is a great movie about a regular man living his life as a taxi driver when his whole world is turned upside down when Tom Cruise jumps into his car. Amazing movie, this is probably Tom Cruises most impressive job of acting I have ever seen. He portrays this hitman in such a way that if you ever met this man in real life you would just want to run and hide. It is one of those shows that you can watch over and over and you are still caught at the edge of your seat.

Another Michael Mann film. What does this tell you? This tells you that there is another great film. Michael Mann does it again in Collateral, his latest crime drama since Heat. Not nearly as good as Heat, but still a respectable film. Jamie Foxx is great as a temporary 12-year cab driver who picks up Tom Cruise who plays an aggressive hitman dead on. Cruise is awsome in his steel grey suit and hair and Jamie Foxx acts as a typical cab driver would when taken hostage. Foxxs characters turn-around at the end is fantastic. This film is, as most Michael Mann films are, a character study, which focuses on the characters feelings and emotions. But when the action scenes come, Mann delivers them so greatly. The shootout in the Korean night club with the remix of Paul Oakenfolds Ready Steady Go is among Manns best work. The film may start out slow but its a character study, or a drama, not an action film.

Now, I'll admit, Im not a Tom Cruise fan. I've always thought that he was pretty, but not much of an actor. Then I watched "Collateral". I think that Tom is at his best playing the villian, he was convincing, intriguing and strangly attractive with his grey hair. Not to leave out Jaime Foxx. I give him mad props for his portrayel of Max. Very convincing, and totaly at the end of the spectrum from the roles that he normally take. Mrs. Jada Pinkett-Smith on the other hand was not entirely convincing. With the drama playing out in the end of the movie, you would think that she would show more emotion than she did. Oh' well, the rest of the movie was good enough that her role did not affect the overall quality of the movie

Just a great movie. I don't think anyone could replace Cruise on this one, outstanding performance. I liked how calm and cool Cruise's character was, just execute and get the job done, no time for bullshit. Foxx although cheesy in some scenes like the jazz scene when Vincent asked the question, "Where did Miles learn music, and he shouts out "music school," did a good job. I can't say enough about Cruise though. He is just a bad ass.

I've just watched Collateral, which sadly and surprisingly loses credence (especially since I admit to being such an amateur at spotting a film faux pas) at the very beginning when Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise are putting the fallen body in to the trunk of the cab: BIG PROBLEM when you actually see the body's right hand clutching Jamie's arm!! Even, if this is a possibility with corpses, it is still so distracting and so immediate that, Number One - it raises suspicion in the standards of the rest of the movie, and, Number Two - it overly sensitizes you to the lack of credibility in the rest of scenes, i.e. too many scenes conveniently lacking in bystanders, curiosity seekers or "walkers-by", and personnel in the U. S. Attorney's building. And, Tom's character, Vincent, never convinces me that he really was the character the movie wanted or needed him to be...The movie started and ended with a lack of ... uh...something, anything!

This is one of the best movies I have every seen Tom Cruise play in. In my eyes, an actor shows his greatness by becoming as good as bad guy as he good guy. Cruise accomplished this in this movie. This is one of my favorite movies. In fact, I am watching it as I am writing this review.

I watch it on a DVD that I rented last night. I'm going to buy a copy. It's one of those movies you want to watch over and over again. The acting is amazing. I hope it'll win an oscar.

Just let you know that I rated this movie as millions of thumbs. I loved the way Tom and Jamie has developed hardcore relationship in the movie. Tom definetly caught the audience as being a sleazy alternative killer. A lot of good turning plots, climax, and adernadline rush scences. Mostly, the credit goes to Michaeal Mann for his finest job as a director since "Heat". He's very compassionate director works with Tom and Jamie. Happy B-day to Jamie and Merry X-mas and HNY to all casts and crews.! Thumb up! your longtime moviegover

In the beginning i thought it would be just another commercial movie, but i was wrong....it turn out to be a great movie and in the end i must recognize that i have become a Tom CRUISE fan, especially after seeing "the last samurai". It's a fact that Tom has "grown up" as an actor since Jerry Mcguire and Vanilla Sky, and this is wonderful. The movie was splendid, i enjoyed it and i simply love the music, very well chosen, I'll definetinely buy the soundtrack and the dvd.One thing though, the end might have been different, more dramatic and surprising in the same time....i admit that i am sick of happyendings like the good guy always turns out alive and the bad guy dies every time.....couldn't have been different just for once in a lifetime (see 21 grams...). But anyway, all my admiration for the way the movie was made and for Tom's acting. Go and see the movie....it's absolutely not a waste of time.

I did see this in the theater, something I rarely do. (I was looking forward to it cause Heat really impressed me.) I saw this movie not because Tom Cruise stars in it. But I am a fan of Javier Bardem (Felix) and of Jada Pinkett-Smith. While I'm not into cop&killer dramas, Heat is one of my favorites. I was not disappointed in Javier's and Jada's performances, these continually are two great overlooked talents. Jamie Foxx was great, and Cruise makes a better villian than the leading man of his old "formula" movies. But something was lacking... I didn't care for the cinematography but I don't know why, except it wasn't the calibar of Heat.

This was not one of Tom's best films it was predictable and far fetched at best. The reason for 3 stars is that the character build up of Cruise and Fox was done very well. I am glad i went to it as a matinee

After seeing Collateral, I must say that Tom and Jamie play a cat & mouse not unlike Tom&Jerry or adversies like Tweetie&Sylvester. Though not comical or animated, they come together and make for a suspenseful, action-oriented, kamakazilike relationship that twists in the wind. The ending was good enough for me to have questions which kept me interested throughout the movie... there was some slow evolving components at the beginning but expedited until conclusion. I am fan of Collateral.

This movie was a great movie to watch. Me being a Tom Cruise fan already makes this movie great. He is a great actor and producer and has made great movies and this is just another to add in my collection. I love the feel of the movie and the way the characters look. Me being a screenwriter and director myself it really gives me something to look at. I give this movie 5 stars.

This should have been entitled "Much Ado About Nothing". The same plot (if any existed) repeated five times over. Cruise must have been wearing a mask because his expression never changed, even when slaughtering people.
