Im so glad we did. This was a really fun movie, had a plot I thought was intriguing. We loved Lucy Luu and other actors in the movie too. Lots of funny stuff, but nothing too stupid or ridiculous. Im a Kindergarten Teacher. I took my husband whos a business exec. and my college daughter wholl be a Dr. in a couple of months. We all really enjoyed the movie. It was a fun comedy, nothing too nasty or nothing too racial. Lots of laughs. Go and have a good time! Was this review helpful? Cedric was ok but most def it was not his best work, it was towards the bottom of the list. The movie had itsfunny parts but, please dont pay money to go see this movie, wait till DVD. This was one of the worst two hours wasted of my life, for the price of a movie ticket! Was it the lack of plot? Yes. The tired one-liners? Yes. The bad ad-libbing? The cliched B-movie spy essentials? Yes, and yes.
This movie plays just every tired black stereotype you can think of, right down to the sassy African-American female security guard complaining at length about how Cedrics character messed up her hair (no one in the audience laughed by the way).
Cedric the Entertainer was truly out of his element in this movie. This is not his (nor should it be anyones) brand of comedy. Hes usually so suave and debonaire. If he would have started out making movies like this, he would have never made it out of two-bit comedy clubs. I dont know, perhaps he was past due on some bills and needed to make some extra cash.
Cedric, shame on you for clowning yourself. You get an F-minus, and a one-way ticket back to BETs Comic View. Was this review helpful? My co-workers, and myself are still saying some of the lines from the movie. I would say if you need a laugh, and you are tired from all the other too serious or half boring movies out now try this movie I think you will like it. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 1/5/2007A review of Code Name: The Cleaner by jacetyle this movie was awful. i understand that sometimes people want to go to a trashy, throw away movie where they can suspend belief for a couple hours and zone out. i was, unfortunately, painfully conscious that i shelled out 8 bucks for this, and wasted a couple hours that i would other wise have found more enjoyable chasing parked cars. The plot is pretty much of little or no consequence, and cedric the entertainer mainly bores, replete with the necessary --im the black (insert white stereotypes here)-- quips. Unfortunately this just gives you the impression cedric is whining that were he white, his film wouldnt blow so bad, where the reality of the situation is, it makes no difference who plays his part.
The script is so dire, by-the-numbers, lowest-common-denominator humour it comes out reeking of a higher budget wayans affair. The slapstick is hammy, the dialogue is awkward, and the tone of the film is never set. My 13 year old cousin summed it up nicely by telling me - That was boring. I wish I was at school. - And it was a Saturday. Ouch.
If you absolutely have to get a cedric fix, go to a rental store and find some of his stand-up. its awesome. or go to the zoo. take a walk. ride a bike.If you absolutely have to go to the movies, pick something else. but dont let anyone make you feel like they just picked 8 dollars out of your pocket, and you just let them.
