That is many of the reviewers rate it as either a very bad or a great movie. After having seen the movie in 3D I rate it 3 stars out of 5. The acting and story in the movie are decent and the special effects are good. I was never bored watching it, but IMO it was not worth paying extra to see the movie in 3D. The best action sequence in the movie was the battle with Madusa. The last battle with the Kraken was not over the top, as it seems many hoped for, but it was ok. I find it easier to rate movies based on 0 to 100, so my rating for this one is 68 / 100. Was this review helpful? I can say hands down this was the worst remake I have ever seen. After my husband turned to me and and said, "Well that was crap." I noticed half way threw the 3-D movie that you could take your 3-D glasses off, so I knew something was not right. Then I read that it was not even originally shot in 3-D, it was done post production and it shows. Worse than that was the fact that there was really no story plot and it was so far from the original that the only thing it had in common was the title. We had to drive 2 hours to see a movie in 3-D. I would have normally turned off 10-20 minutes into or walked out of the theater if I was not 2 hours from my house. In short it was CRAP.... Was this review helpful? Yes, it was just as "cheesy" as the original, but with better effects and acting. It IS Clash of the Titans - I'm biased, as I love these kinds of movies, and all the mythology, but it was a good flick to see. I wouldn't see it over and over in the theaters, but I'll probably buy it when it comes out on DVD, and if it's ever on TV, I'll watch it.
Note - if you can see it in 2-D do so. Don't waste your money on the 3-D effects that were added after the fact. They're kind of distracting, and detract from the movie. Was this review helpful? When did Perseus start using the "B" word??? The 3D graffics were pitiful. A Christmas Carol by disney was 1000x's better. This movie was not worth the $10 I paid. It deserves 0 starsPosted: 4/11/2010A review of Clash of the Titans by JennayaBlackhawk Okay I get it, they wanted to remake the origional. And that is about as far as that went...all the rest of the story went right out the damn window. I can understand not making a carbon copy of the first one but what the hell! They took out or twisted EVERYTHING! from the origional. I mean even the most basic storylines are nowhere to be seen. First off in the first one the most basic story was that perseus was in love with andromeda and THAT is why he went to see the stygian witches and medusa, to save his love. In this one he barely met her, doesnt give two shits about her and is only going to try and kill the kraken because of HADES! Are you shitting me? Hades wasnt even in the first one...why? Because he isnt the father of the kraken, POSEIDON IS! And another thing, in the beginning perseus' mother, Danae was the daughter of the king, not his wife, who had been seduced by zeus. He threw her into the sea with Perseus and then Zeus destroyed the city killing everyone. Now somehow it was the kings wife AND HE is the one turned into Calibas!!! WTF!!! Calibas, who was the son of Thetis, was cursed by Zeus for killing all but one of his flying horses. AND it wasnt the queen comparing her daughters beauty to Aphrodite that caused Hades to get pissed and call for Andromeda to be sacrificed, it was the queen insulting Thetis (who was already pissed because Andromeda no longer loved her son Calibas after Zeus cursed him) by comparing her beauty to her daughter that pissed off Thetis and she called for Andromeda to be sacrificed. I seriously could keep going on and on and on but its really just a matter of this...they seriously screwed this remake up. They didnt remake a classic they made a movie with a completely different story. They should have stuck to the basic foundation that was already there and built on it with better graphics and fx. Instead they rewrote a classic and screwed the pooch doing it. God I hate this movie! I'm gonna have to go find the... Was this review helpful? The best utilization of 3D was the introduction when it told us to put our glasses on. Most of the scenes were too dark with the glasses on. My Bloody Valentine made better use of 3D than this movie. 'Clash of the Titans' is an epic story of mythology; although it's somewhat of a twist on, 'The Lightning Thief.' In both of these movies, an ancient Greek god has a relationship with a woman; and they both have sons named Perseus. Perseus becomes the protagonist; with a god being the antagonist. I don't want to give away the storyline to this movie, but I tell you this. If you know a good movie when you see one, then you should go and watch, 'Clash of the Titans.' Was this review helpful? It was only the second time in my life that I actually walked out of a movie and requested a refund because it was so terrible and painful to watch (I left after about 55 minutes, which seemed like several hours). The storyline is nonsensical (ok, I already knew that from the original, but in a big budget remake it somehow seemed even more ridiculous: “hey fellow mortals, let's fight the gods, we don’t need them and what could possibly go wrong?” Yeah, that's a good idea); The script was apparently written by 12 year olds and is so bad that any scene with dialog is painful to watch—I actually felt sorry for the actors; The makeup/hair is absurd (Did the lower classes in ancient times all wear a lot of dark black eyeliner? Did the more privileged classes all wear their hair in multiple braids? Really?); While some of the scenes/special effects are gorgeous and visually stunning, others are a blurry confusing mess; The fight against the giant scorpion-like creature in the desert was ridiculous: “Quick, hide under that arch that's just standing by itself in the middle of the open desert, the creature will just run into it and not get you!” Audience response: “Ha, ha, ha, it’s too wide to get through the arch! It got stuck. That’s funny!” (Oh and I wonder if they got a good deal on the CGS for the creature by getting it second hand from the Transformers movie). I could go on and on. Bottom line: it's a terrible movie, painful to watch - and a waste of time and money (particularly at $17/ticket for XD 3D). Was this review helpful? The story line took a well known Greek Myth, butchered it, threw in some poor attempts at comedy and then dumped a load of bad dialog on top.
Bottom line: If you want a good Greek Myth told well see the original, if you want to see visually stunning and exciting action sequences see Avatar, if nothing else is showing and it is only going to cost you $2-3 this isn't the worst thing you could spend that amount on. I saw it in both 2-D and 3-D - both had things I liked. Best idea is to see it yourself on the biggest screen possible. It rocked! Was this review helpful?
