I hate this dumb movie. They have idotical singing polumpaas that are like stupid 2 foot 78 year olds. If you have seen it and you like it, don't watch it over and over. I get headaches from Willy Wonka's baby "Good morning starshine" voice. It was so much coller, it was almost as bad as Speed Racer at the efects. It is so bright that soon you feel like you are going to faint and you look away from all the dizzeyness. If you are looking for a movie with a good balance of wierdness, this movie will not be the right movie. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 2/2/2007A review of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Foxxi_Delish85 I am a true fan of the original and have the DVD. I love Johnny Depp, but this movie didnt do it for me. I guess iits because I compared it too much to the original. I think the characters lacked depth, the original spent time with every character. This movie made charlie and his grandpa look like saints, when in the first movie they had their wrong doings too. I did not like the new oompa lompas nor their songs- whch I hated most of all. I think the only part that I laughed is when Mike Teevee was about to be transported and started dancing. And all the reviewers who say this film is dark... uhh the first one is dark, this is nothing compared to the first- read between the lines. Good try but no cigar. But What I liked most of all is that Tim Burton made a real chocolate waterfall for the film! see the original before u see this one. Was this review helpful? The music here, seems to be geared to the popular hip-hop generation There is a similar message about listening to others, having respect, and showing decent manners. The four selfish, unruly children still learn a lesson from the candy king.
The difference in this remake, is dwelling on the home and family life Willy runs away from. He seems to have certain issues he needs to resolve with his father(actor Chrstopher Lee), a noted Dentist. The winning child,Charlie, teaches him the most important lesson that your Parents will always Love you and forgive you for anything you have done. As much fun as he was in some scenes, others seemed natural but unnecessary. I also thought that the back-story was unnecessary-- there was nothing about the origins of Willy Wonka in the original book. Of course, this movie is the brainchild of Tim Burton, the master of the wierd and wacky, so I really found nothing else to complain about. I found most of the movie highly enjoyable. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 3/25/2006A review of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by max45722 Jonny Depp stars as Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory it tells
the story of of young Charlie Bucket he is so poor he only gets to buy one chocolate bar a year so theres really no chance hell be lucky enough to find one of the five golden tickets hidden inside of Wonka Bars, the delicious treat manufactured at the top-secret factory owned by Willy Wonka. But when the unlikely event occurs, Charlies invited on a guided tour of Mr. Wonkas surreal building.
This is a Remake of the 70s virsion it fallows along the same story line. It is one of the better Remakes i hate when they make a movie over again and it does not compare with the origanel. But this one was good. What amazed me the most about the movie was the Ompa Lumpas they only had one person do every Umpa Lumpa with a little help from the computer.
The yong actors in this were great most of them this is there fist movie execpt for AnnaShopia Rodd who was in Because of Win-Dixie They were great young actors it is great to start of your career with a hit movie like this one. In this movie Jonny Depp is I think a better Willy Wonka The only thing i dont like is he is kind of out there like an outcast and he just is sometimes anoing.
But that is beside the point Charlie and the chocolate factory is a good movie. It is one to be seen. Was this review helpful? Do not try to compare the original with this one. It was dark and creepy. It was light and funny. The movie covered the full range of emotion. Family values, being an outcast, betrayal, disappointment and success are just a few of the ideals that are dealt with in this movie. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Sign In 1 out of 3 users found this helpful Posted: 1/8/2006A review of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by FrequentIsnes This movie was awful. I was so excited to see it and it was just terrible. Johnny Depp is such a terrible actor. What the heck was he doing as Willie Wonka? He was so so boring and bland. The original movie was so much better which is amazing because there is so much more technology available now. Total Total Thumbs Down Big Time. (-4 Stars) Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 12/31/2005A review of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by AnimeBryan This new version puts the oder version to shame. I loved it and Im still recommending it to everybody I know. The old one was dumb, lame, and the morality of the story was lost because of the changes they did due to the lack of technology and motivation. This new version, is more detailed and understandable. Although I agree that there should have been more enenphazise on the naugthy children than concentrating the attention entirely to Charlie and Willy Wonka only (because it makes the naugthy children seem like extras, instead of important characters, which is what they are, after all), the story was still smart and funny, and WAY better than the corny old 1971 version of the movie. I loved the songs, to the point in which I
know them by heart. In my opinion it was the best part of the movie. This movie is yet another work of art from Tim Burton and I recommended to every single person reading this. Now, almost 19, i was scared to watch it because of old memories but it was really better then the first one. For one thing, there were no singing orange-face green-hair ommpa lommpas everywhere. (okay there were ommpa lommpas everywhere but normal looking) Secondly, i now understand more of the plot, and it really stuck to the book much better. I think though that the whole thing with Willy wonka and his dad thing isnt that great of a story line but still it was a good movie. Was this review helpful?
