important subject that rarely is spoken of or dealt with. Let's face it:
This is where rock 'n roll started, and familiarity with some of
this astonishing talent can only enrich a music lover's life. Penny-ante
criticism, while approrpiate in many mainstream "award-winning" films,

If you really want to be entertained by a great story and some tremendously powerful acting see this movie. Anyone that gives this movie a less than above average rating has something other than the movie playing into their opinion. Seriously it's a sad fact that this movie will not receive the viewership it deserves because of some old American sensitivities. Pahleese, get over it and give credit where it is due. Why? Because this movie is terrible. The director is trying to cram 3 or 4 life stories into 2 hours and it was all over the place. I had more questions than answers and the movie was extremely rushed. With caliber actors as Jeff Wright and Adrian Brody, I wasn't upset with their acting but with the script and the fact that they signed on to portray Waters and Chess...but we are in a recession. Beyonce...all I can say is some musicians have true acting talent...she would not fall into that category. She was Beyonce with a foul mouth and a bad wig. This movie needs to be revamped and the fact that the final cut was what was sent to movie theatres should have the director hanging their head in shame. Great actors - Beyonce + bad script does not = OSCAR. "Beyonce needs an OSCAR for playing Etta James", come on. I can sing "At Last" does that mean I should get an Oscar too? Was this review helpful? This movie was thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end.
First, it was a great history lesson highlighting Blues, Rock N Roll, legends, as well as sharing a little of the 50's, 60's and early 70's Chicago lifestyle and eras. Each actor did a marvelous job portraying their characters. Cudos to all of them, their performances took you right there. Bravo to: Adrian Brody as Leonard,
Jeffrey as Muddy, Columbus as Little Walter, Mos Def and Chuck Berry, Howling Wolf character, and Beyonce as Etta James, even Cedric the entertainer as narrator explained the story. Everyone I know that saw this movie absolutely loved it. I wouldn't mind seeing it again and highly recommend it to music lovers and nostalgia lovers.

I was really impressed with the movie overall and really enjoyed learning the history of this era. This is one of those movies that I'd actually go see twice and would definitely recommend it to my family and friends.
I thought Beyonce's role was played well also and what I enjoyed most is she wasn't in the movie the entire time (yeah).

Adult scenes maybe too much for some... and they seem to love showing guns tucked in pants (era thing- I guess). MSN should consider selecting critics that can relate to the movie. Mos Def is so talented and apppeared too briefly, he has a sense of humor, irony that reflected the changes that were coming. Again Beyonce is candidate for an academy award, she can sing and act. I recommend it if you want to be thoroughly entertained. An excellent show that was very much enjoyed. Was this review helpful? I know that my wife and I did. All the actors played their parts very well and I will tell everyone I know to see it. I will see it again. People were singing and crying and clapping. IT WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!
