This was simply a very sad tale with no real ending. The film preview seemed to promise a "Narnia" type film with great special effects and stunning scenes. Instead we got just a "boy meets girl. Girl dies" scenario with some hints at special effects. A film with so much promise that delivered none.

It is very unfortunate that so many people thought this movie was a trick. The book that came before this movie was a 1978 Newbery Medal winner for the most distinguished contribution to American Literature for Children, and is still a bestseller still today. Teachers have been teaching this book to elementary school students for decades, and the book has been deemed appropriate for children in the first grade all the way to adult. I'm not sure what other parents would have liked to have seen in the preview that would make them understand the themes in the movie. I am sure that Disey executives believed that people would know what the movie was about since the book has been beloved for ages. It's a sad commentary today that we allow children to play games and watch movies that have death in them without believing that they can

The book was written back in the 70's. The reason why she wrote it was because her sons best friend at the age of 8 or 9, was struck and killed by lightning while on vacation. The only way that she knew to understand this tragedy was to write about it. Thus Bridge to Terabithia was written. The death came suddenly to the little girl and that's how it was supposed to be in the book and movie. You people shelter your children so much, saying you will tell them about death when you are ready. When will that be? When their best friend is killed in a car accident? Discussing death is a tricky subject and I believe that this movie gives you a feel for death by having it in a contained environment. Should be PG-13? Other than say damn and hell about 5 times in the entire movie. No gory blood or deaths, you don't even see the death. I am truly scared for the kids that you are all raising. Someone will die in their life, and since you didn't do your job of teaching them, they won't know how to handle it. While the trailer was misleading it's not like the book hasn't been out for 30 years. Granted it's hard to read every book out their, but we do have a thing called the internet you could have went to a forum and asked people if you should take your 8 year old to the movie. To sum it all up, this movie did a fantastic job of following the book. Josh and AnnaSophia, did an impecible acting job. This movie will go down as my all tme favorite.

First to start off I just need to tell you and other people this movie is a lot more easy to follow and enjoy if you have read the book first. People that haven't read the book and just go and watch the movie based on the trailers will be very unpleased with this movie. People that have read the book know its not fantasy as more of a movie based on real-life. I have watch this movie 4 time and it makes me cry everytime. I would tell people to see this movie that have kids or not because its it deals with the normal things kids deal with like bullies, teacher crushers, childhood friendships, death and imaganation. The one thing that you should and your kids should get out of this movie is no matter what is going on in your life, you can always use your imaganation to escape into a place that is calming, relaxing, a place to think of stuff.

Did it remind you of My Girl? It was somewhat similar, except the girl dies this time. Of course, the situation was very different, this had other type of issues to deal with. Both children reminded me of my nephew, who has a very vivid imagination and uses it to create his own world. As grown ups, we tend to minimize our childrens problems, but we forget how big ours were at their age, or were they any different? How finding a friend may or not, be as difficult as we think. Dealing with death may be more difficult for a child than for an adult, but how important it is to talk to them about that difficult issue. Regardless of our religious beliefs, we all have to deal with it, sooner or later. It seems we all think that children will automatically understand everything on their own, but we are dead wrong. It is our responsibility as parents to teach them, to help them deal with all issues. Be sure you take a box of tissues when you go see this movie, it is really a great movie!

What an awesome movie. Ive never assigned more than 3 stars to a movie, this one is a 5. Its the movie Ive waited for most of my life. I hope there are more to come. I think its good for kids of all ages, with parental guidance. If the parents are unfamiliar with the Kingdom however, I would suggest they send their kids with those who are familiar with Kingdom living to provide guidance. Also its good to finally have the truth out there about God not damning people to hell, after all, God didnt ram the apple down Adams throat... and one who saw beauty in the Provision definately had eyes to see.(Youll understand after you see it.)

I thought the movie was outstanding and should be shown for all children to learn about everday situations in their lives. This movie showed the imagination of children and how to deal with life issues. I know it deals about death of a girl, but I dont understand why exposing children to this movie is any different than allowing them to watch lion king, which my son cried when Simbas dad died. What better way to start teaching our children about death because in many families this is not explained until tragedy hits and then its too late.

I havent seen this movie yet, so Im not rating it harshly or anything. However, Im very upset that they put real creatures in it. The book was not at all about the land Terebitha, it was about Jesss and Leslies friendship and what they learned from it. From reading others review it still seems to be a good portrayal of this, but I felt I had to share what I thought before I watched it. I do plan to watch it though and when I do I shall write another review.

It was a beautiful movie. I cried. All the actions made it so emotional.I give it 4 stars. But the only thing is that someone dies so you would have to explane it to young children. But it was still a master peace.

Just as many of the old cartoons and childrens shows were written to be understood on a childs level but were more fully appreciated by an adult mind, so too I found this to be this to be the case with Terabithia. At first I had a hard time digesting the movie. I kept waiting for the real life presentation to convert to the mystical world. I wonder even now if this was the writers plan. Anyway, I found that the movie took me or my mind back to a time when I too lived part of my life in a world of make believe. It let me remember the first crush I had on my teacher, the first girl friend, the time of transition or coming of age and many more things that occurred long ago It made me cry at a loss that felt it was actually mine. In my mind I think it can be appreciated by all but the older you are the more you will appreciate this movie creation.. See it.
