I wonder who are these people making negative comments and I’ll like to ask them why such negative review. Is it because they are jealous, prejudice or plain miserable? We Latin people need to stick together. I could see that’s overly stated since what happening in this movie is that these people are being disrespected, murdered, etc within themselves (raza). I think I’ll be asking for too much to have them show some respect to someone that is not their own kind. Then again I am starting to stereotype which is not a good thing, since I have wonderful Mexican friends.
Jennifer keep up the good work and keep taking projects that mean something to you other than fame and money! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 1 users found this helpful  BordertownPosted: 10/31/2007A review of Bordertown by miasol0 i can't wait to see this movie. in october 2006 i went to El Paso in search of purchasing some homes there and visiting some relatives in which they live about 3 minutes from Juarez Border and my aunt had just purchased a very nice Cinderella dress for her daughter and only paid $25.00 usd in juarez. i know so i went on a tuesday afternoon with her and my 4year old daughter to get fitted for 4 dresses. we were there for about 3 hours looking at the different shops buying a tons of things. So ok i'm a pretty tall lady 5'8 so i was buy far taller than most of the hispanic locals there, so you can say that i stuck out like a sore thumb in a crowd and my daughter a very cute kid while we were there i felt so unsafe, my stomach hurts just thinking of it a guy grabbed my daughter while we were going to the car. I was grabbed,rubbed,and anything you could possiably think of. i will never go there again i've never felt so violated in my life. i feel that this movie will shed some much needed light on what goes on there. and the locals get the picture that tourist could bring some much needed more in that city. But with a reputation with the one that Juarez has i don't think that anyone feels comfortable to visit. Or i won't go again. ( i spent 350.00 while i was there) Was this review helpful? Only this no-talent casting couch alum could turn a Redford-Freeman film into a loser as she does in every film she appears in. It's her money and position that puts her on the screen like sour milk and thankfully there are many other choices that we can make instead of being herded into one of her disaster films. I walked out of Selena and won't go back. Stay in Juarez, Lopez. Do your fly-girl routine there and sell some gum.

The story line is centered on the victims without any sensationalism, but with pure realism and sensitivity. Jennifer Lopez is not the main focus of the movie, she obviously steps aside from the limelight to make the women victims the respect and voice they deserve. I appreciated that she dressed conservately so as to not to bring attention to herself. Jennifer has evolved since gigly(which was her only flop). After her split from Ben Affleck, her career has taken a good direction and she is becoming an amazing woman and actress, this movie is a living proof of the woman she has become. It finally gives some voice to the women and families that are affected by these murders. It depicts the border world so perfectly and - if all you so worried about J Lo would get a life- you would understand the deeper message of the movie. We live with this everyday. We dont have a Jennifer Lopez to worry about, but rather our own safety and those of our daughters. Really see the movie - do not focus on Jennifer Lopez. The movies intention is to show you how easily we are distracted by how the media wants to portray news, rather than what the story is and how people are being affected. Not only are her choices in movies not the greatest but neither is her acting and singing.
