I pride myself on being an expert of mystery and thriller movies, able to keep one step ahead of a screenwriter in a smug, self-important kind of way.

OK, so know I know better.

"Blood Simple", the film debut of Joel and Ethan Coen, made me an instant fan of the Brothers Coen and their dark vision and humor. For the first time I was completely unable to predict what direction I would be thrown in next.

The moral bankruptcy of all the characters involved made it hard to take sides in the story.

Presenting a tale of infidelity, revenge and greed are performances by Dan Hedaya, Frances McDormand, John Getz, and M.
