I didn't like the acting of Leonardo D. in his past movies but his acting was really great in this movie!, all the actors were great, the message of the movie is very crude and direct, the effects are well done, today I saw the movie for third time since it was released. Danny Archer is not from South Africa or Britain, though that is a common misconception. He is from Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia). The acting was superb and beleivable. Leo had an awesome accent. And yet, even though it was a violent movie, it was easy to become interested in this movie. I just thought that the only thing wrong was the part of taking Djimon Hounsou away from his family. But yet, it was still an enjoyable movie for a Sunday evening. Even though I despise the movies that Leo usually stars in, except for The Departed, this movie was right up there with The Departed. And yes, I was very much impressed with the outcome of this movie. So, having displayed such knowledge for all of you movie fanatics, I will end this here. Peace easy, everyone. It turns out that it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The acting was incredible, and while Leonardo DeCaprio delivered his usual quality performence, I was most impressed with Djimon Hounsou. I do not know much about this man, but it seemed like he was the real deal (like they went directly to an African community and asked for man who fitted the description of the part they needed). His emotional depth and deliverence was absolutely outstanding. I am rather skeptical of movies trying to make something (movie companies making profit...) off of atrocities, like the one portrayed in this film. However, if there is any shred of truth in this film (which I am positive there is), then everyone should watch this, if even to catch a moments worth of understanding of how bad things were, and, honestly, still are. The plot, the acting, the cast, the soundtrack, everything about this film was great. I was surprised that Leo DiCaprio pulled off the Afrikaans accent. Thats a really hard accent to pull of. This goes to show that he is a great actor. The whole storyline was very intense. I also loved how throughout the movie his character changed a bit. You just cannot help but like him. This was the best movie I have seen in a few years. It really shows what people would do for money and greed, and how many people are put in jeopardy while others live their rich life.
The title of the movie speaks for itself. See this movie, its amazing. I dont like very many movies, but I like this one. If i could give it 10 stars, I would give it 11, because it has a meaningful message.

Leo gave a really good performance comparing to his previous movies.. and the way they presented the concept of Blood Diamond simply deserves appreciation.
Based on the real world, the story has a good flow and has brilliantly managed to convey the message which really knocks our conscience.. the autonomous regime and the child soldiers adds reality to the show.. the useless murders and the violence have been taken by some critics as the negative side of the movie, but it was the necessity of the movie and those were what that made this movie realistic and different than other hollywood movies... some comments were written about the missing part of the movie and how the story doesnt talk about the main reasons of those situations in Sierra Leone but what they missed was that the movie was not just about a single country... as we see from the title, it talks about how the natural resources of the countries enrolled in civil wars are exploited by developed ones directly or indirectly, diamond was taken in this case which is a really a conflicting issue ..it was not only trying to tell us the history of a country but what can done in rest of the world when a country deep in turmoil is far driven into it. It was not only the Diamond the movie was taking about, the diamond represents all the natural resources that are filled with the blood of the people in the third world which make their way illegally to higher level. It really had a great impact on me... as said before by others, I didnt want to leave even after the movie ended.. but at the end they should have continued that native soundtrack rather than introduce a rock one.

DiCaprio plays Danny Archer, a South African diamond smuggler who has hit rock bottom. He is busted and sent to prison. In prison he meets Solomon Vandy (Djimon Honsou), a Mende fisherman who was forced to work in the diamond feilds. Performance wise, Blood Diamond falters a little. Sure DiCaprio and Honsou give more Oscar worthy performances but the other characters arent as well fleshed out as those two. Connely is okay as Maddy. Jameson Thottam

To sum it all up, Blood Diamond is another great film from Zwick. Sure the performances bog it down a little, but the action and the thought provoking moments elevate from a good movie to an Oscar worthy picture. This might not be DiCaprios best performance. I took my husband and we were both entertained from start to finish. It is rare to watch a movie so thrilling, yet educating at the same time. I left the theater looking very differently at my engagement ring that I was so proud of. The next day I started researching blood diamonds to ensure that mine was conflict free. This movie made a hugh impact on me, as I am sure it did with most who saw it. Definitely oscar worthy! If Hollywood put out more movies like this I would be at the theater every weekend. The acting was amazing and the scenery was beautiful. The message was clear in this motion picture and it makes viewers think about a topic that has for so long been hidden and covered up. This civil war in Africa over controversy diamonds is so heated and violent-with the enslavement of young boys into violent, heartless warfare and cold-blooded killing chillled my soul and I was so touched by it!
