Date ![]() Helpful Rating 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Did the director and producer ever hear or READ the adage: "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king!"? Well, here we have Julianne Moore's character who is SIGHTED (TWO good eyes) which makes her the king (queen). Even with her sight, she still lets a group of blind men run the show, to the tune of having the women *$#^ for food!!!!!. So the blind villain has a gun!, SO WHAT!?. She has her sight and could have caused him and them all sorts of problems. She could have slit his throat without him seeing where it was coming from. In sum, the most ridiculous plot and a complete waste of time!. It was so BAD, that since I saw it on STARZ I'm going to ask for a portion of my monthly fee back! (Just kidding). Why good actors would bother to read this script let alone act in it is a gross error in judgement. Was this review helpful? Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 3/9/2009A review of Blindness by DollyBoons This wasn’t the worst movie I've seen, but it's for sure in the top 10! What I would like to know is, when you go blind do you suddenly lose all your marbles? “oh I’ve suddenly gone blind, I guess I’m going to crap all over the floor, and then walk around in it” or “oh I’m blind I have forgotten how to get dressed, so Guess I will just lay here naked and let someone spoon feed me”or “oh help me I’m blind, I think I’ll wander around in the middle of the freeway looking for help” The acting was bad, really bad, the script was worse, but if you have a somewhat twisted sense of humor, you will be laughing about this movie for years to come. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful This movie was painfully bad within the first three minutes. I found myself thinking "Wait, no one would actually do that!" This pattern continued as characters uttered weird, awkward lines and made ridiculous choices like, "Hey I've suddenly gone blind, I'm going to let a stranger drive me home, I'm sure that he will not rob me, then I'm going to take a nap. Oh crap, that stranger robbed me, dang! Also, this movie has an odd combination of some characters playing it straight and other characters acting like their in a neighborhood theater stage play. Within five minutes I knew beyond a doubt that this was a foreign film. That's it. Some foreign films take bad film making to a new level. I can't emphasize enough just how weird the dialog is in this film. I was only able to stomach the first 45 - 50 minutes. As I looked for reviews online, I saw that there was no point in continuing. I don't think this movie is even worth renting. I give it 1/2 of a star. Was this review helpful? this one however makes you wanna shoot everyone around and then yourself

Sign In 0 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 10/16/2008A review of Blindness by leslie13801 this movie was absolutely disgusting. as a woman i felt sick, embarrassed even, to be watching the movie. i left an hour and a half in and have no desire to know what came to be at the end. save your money because i wouldn't even pay a 99 cent red box fee for this garbage. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 3 users found this helpful Posted: 10/6/2008A review of Blindness by cappystar11 This was the most horrific film I have seen in years. Not only did it leave every single door open with zero explanation but it also was fearfully disgusting. Horribly demeaning to woman as well as badly written in terms of meaning and lines. If you are in the mood to see a movie that has no point, no angles, no meaning, no relevance, no real plot or dimension then by all means go see this one. It will make you feel sickly disgusted when you walk away and will keep you up at night disturbed by every scene. My fiance and I tried really hard to stay through the entire thing as so many others walked out, but now I wish I could have rewound time and left during the opening credits. The only thing good about this movie was when it ended and the lights came on in the theater. I'll give in one star for somehow persuading Julianne Moore to act in this piece of crap movie. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful This movie was really...how can I put this.... "PATHETIC." It made no sense to me. I really like Julianne Moore but this movie showed more naked bodies than I cared to see (including hers!!). I know we all have different opinions but Please....save your money on this one and wait for the DVD!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful Did not read the book. Simply saw a pretty good movie with some extraordinary acting (could actually win an acting award or two).
The MMR's main issue with the movie is that with little action, low key dull sex (was "R" rated!), pretty mellow drama & no comedy puts this in what I call the lack of mass appeal catagory. Does this mean the movie was not good or even in certain parts great? No...It just simply means that the MMR & the other ten or less people in the theater on an opening weekend night will not make this movie a winner.
Consider the premise of everybody (except Julianne Moore's character) going blind from "something". Julinanne is the wife of the eye doctor (a primary character; Mark Ruffalor) who sees the first person hit by the "blindness" disorder, illness or whatever it is...The who, what, where, when & how (forget the order!) were not well explainedl. Julianne pretends she is blind as well so she can "help" or something like that.
You would think that previously blind or always been blind people would offer up some leadership & help in some various ways (did not anyone see the movie "Ray"?). Danny Grover's pre-event blind character seemed helpless (but "good") & a pre-event blind man (character actor?) was relatively helpful in a "bad" way to some bad guys.
Bottom line is that good or great acting a good or great movie may not make or at least be mass appeal material.
MMR Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful We are big movie goers and this is one of the top worst sexist movies me and my husband ever saw. Total garbage. Wish we could get our money back. One of the few movies people walked out. If there was no star that is what we would give it. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 10/4/2008A review of Blindness by Chanah40777 Not much positive I can say about this movie. OK- it was well acted. It did have a moral to the story-humans treat each other badly. Stay away. Don't waste your money or more important to me, your time. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful This movie was well acted & I like Julianne Moore but that did not keep the movie from being dark, foreboding & depressing.
I am not a particularly squeamish individual but one scene almost made me get up & walk out!
If you are feeling down & out stay away. If you are feeling upbeat & sanguine most definitively stay away!
This is NOT a date movie, a family movie or a fun night out followed by dinner movie!
Be forewarned. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 3 users found this helpful "The only thing more terrifying then blindness is being the only one who can see."
For the love of god, who would write something that effing stupid?!
WORST MOVIE LINE..... EVER.
Really, step back play that preview again. I'll wait... *whistles* (1 minute later) YEAH! Isn't that the most overly CHEESY thing you have ever heard?! That tops "King of the world!" "You had me at Hello" or "You can be my wingman anytime." Seriously, whoever wrote that script should be quartered! "The only thing more terrifying than seeing that movie, is knowing someone actually said something that ridiculously STUPID on screen." Was this review helpful?
