Whatever can be said for better Graphis is nice but this is the ultimate Horror Science Fiction-from a great Book. This film would create a standard for Serious film for the next century. It is Brutal mean and beautiful. Not a cowboy show or Tek frolic. It cries ,screams and glistens in the Rain. Good stuff. j Was this review helpful? Not just to sci-fi lovers, but to all those who liove film and wonder, "what if?" We question the very core of our existance. If such a thing is. DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? The Phillip K Dick novel is brought to life in a gritty, black, realistic nightmare that makes you regret ever brooching the question. Ridley Scott's true vision of what man is capable of is frighteningly violent and romantic. It's the future we all remember Was this review helpful? The directors cut is another version and works as well but does not deserve a five star rating, and yes I know most of you have never seen the original version! To bad. Sorry Ridley but the first one is better! Was this review helpful? Although the plot is about four androids trying to extend their lifetime while being chased by a blade runner, the android technology is not relevant, nor are the moral issues of artificial intelligence. The androids' struggle against their creator (the Tyrell corporation) represents Man's struggle with God, or can be viewed as story in parallel with the fallen angels in John Milton's _Paradise Lost_. Their struggle with their ";inhumanness"; is also symbolic of mankind's struggle of finding spiritual peace and goodness in a chaotic, meaningless universe. Not only is the philosophy and symbolism increadibly deep and subtle, but the cinematography and sound track is increadible. The atmosphere of the film easily makes up what it lacks in common action found in most sci-fi.It's a very intelligent movie. I recommend the Director's Cut, because the tacked-on ending and the voice-overs in the Original Version ($@&s some of the beauty out of the movie. Was this review helpful?
