I have read the previous reviews with how upset people were with this movie. But, I found it to be a good movie that was true to life. Maybe a lot of the people that saw this movie and hated it, had only seen it for the beating of Christina Ricci. As for me, I very much understood all of the issues in this movie. Apparently the people who did hate this movie, were probably already living terribly. By that, I mean, I know you have your demons. But, I am not the judgemental type, so I am going to let you praise yourself for being stupid. But, as for the review, I loved this movie, and I can not stress my feelings anymore, so I am going to go to sleep. Peace. Was this review helpful? This is the second movie that Samuel L. Jackson has done with the word SNAKE in it that is really really really BAD. I dont know who came up with the idea of having a white woman chained in a black mans house to stop her from having sex and make it into a movie, but whoever it was must have been extremely bored. Almost as much as I was watching this movie. I will say there was one good part and that was WHEN IT WAS OVER!!!!! Was this review helpful? It reminds me of living in my small town as a youth. We had a girl that was similiar to her and a guy like Justin. Its just a sorry movie. A lot of cussing, mixed Christian context. It had its moments of goodness. But there were only a few. And I like Samual L as an actor, even though he cusses like a sailor ( no offense sailors), but he aint no singer, nor guitar player.The scene where he is in a club trying to play music again with his band is just rediculous. If you want to see how stupid a movie can get, then watch it. I kept waiting for it to end. P.S Jesus loves you!He really does. he is the only one to die on a cross for mankind. Both of us were ify, but said what the hell. We sat down to a surprisingly awesome movie. You were immediately on Samuel L. Jacksons side and wanted the best for him. Christina Ricci was awesome as a nymphomaniac, but understood she had problems. We found ourselves constantly rooting for them to succeed. The only downside was Justin Timberlake, who I think should just stick to crying in the microphone. Was this review helpful? I am a black female. I am the survivor of 2 attempted rapes. I just want to say that you sounded like a complete idiot. Target practice? How much shooting do you think your wife is going to be able to do face down on the ground or a bed? Or perhaps on her back with her arms pinned down under her attackers legs? Please learn to not immediately react to the racial setup of movies today. Im sure the director wanted to provoke this reaction but please do not let pigment cloud your better judgement. I have not seen this film but at this point I am truly intrigued to see it. Im laughing to myself because just the other day I was at the movies with a friend and he asked me about BSM. And I recall telling him the premise and never once mentioning the race of the actors. You want to know why? Because it is irrelevant. The storyline is what it is whether its SLJ or Brad Pitt. Please dont run around fearing a particular race due to statistics. Another thing I didnt mention about my story... they were white. Was this review helpful? While I was interested in seeing this movie I was a bit scared that it would turn into an overly preachy god will save all picture. They side stepped that land mine the charecters were fantastic and there development throughout the movie was great. The ailments or problems they had where abit exageratted but very relatable. I loved this movie for its approach to uncomfortable circumstances it is bound to anger a few people. I am a big fan of any film maker that can push the envelope rather than remake typical hollywood crap.

You have a rebel flag wearing white trailer trash nymphomaniac woman being humbled by a Blues singing religious bible toting black man. If it were just that simple it would be a good movie. Now, look at the Artistic rendering of the movie poster and the name of the movie. First of all you see a standing black man all buffed up (SLT is not that buffed). Then you see a White woman on her knees in front of him wearing that rebel flag shirt holding on to a chain in the hands of that buffed black man. Then you have the name of the movie Black Snake Moan. Black snake is of course a slang term used for the genitals of a black man and of course most women moan while having sex. Then you have the little caption Everything is hotter down south. Please give me a break. This looks more like an interracial Porn movie with out all the good stuff in it. Dont get me wrong I have nothing against interracial relationships. I have dated White ,Black, Asian, and Hispanic women. There is no race that is more evil or better than the other, only individual people. People say dont judge a book by its cover, but dont you thing a cover should symbolize what is in the book. Just look at the cover for Monster Ball and you can see the difference. BTW Halle Berry gave a performance of a live time. KOODOOS to you girl.
I havent seen this movie yet, but I will. I will wait until it is on DVD. Premium box office price are just too much to pay for what looks and sounds like a B-rated movie. One more thing, this is a movie review, stop telling people here this and that. If someone doesnt like peas because they are round then stop telling them they are wrong. Every person has their likes and dislikes. The only time it is wrong is when they actively seek to do harm, physically, emotionally or spiritually. Thank you for your time in reading my letter. While it is a double standard, I do not believe these films are made to oppress the black community. These movies are made to tell a story, not matter how grit and grind it may be. Simple as that.
