I dont think it is trying to be an intelligent, thoughtful epic! I think that the director just wanted to make a funny movie for mainly teenagers - and thats what he did.
This movie is about a man (Billy) who is wasting his life on his dads earned luxury, drinking and reading nudie magazines. One day, his father (whos the owner of a multi-billion dollar hotel chain) decides that he will give his business to the conniving jerk Eric who hates Billy. Billy is upset and wants to prove that he can run a business so he makes a deal with his dad and Eric that if he can pass every grade from SK-Grade 12 in 24 weeks, he can own the hotel chain.
In my opinion, this movie accomplished what it set out to accomplish. It was funny and different. I give it 5 stars because I think that it did exactly what it was meant to do. Although most adults don'y like it I still feel this should not be deemed as a "kids only" flick. It is a masterpiece of Adam sandlers.
