Date  Helpful Rating 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  Absolutely AwesomePosted: 7/11/2004A review of Beyond Borders by Candi659 I'm a teenager, and this movie was so incredible...i like the whole "based on real events" kind of plots, but not a lot of my friends do, but the few i went to see the movie with loved it also..jolie did an awesome acting job and the plot was so captivating and a real eye opener..i esp. loved how a love story was incorporated into the movie, which made it less intense..it really is a must see movie that i would recommend to anyone ages 16 to 60. Parts of the movie definitely gave you a raw look at the third world, something most Americans haven't seen and may not want to see. Nevertheless, Angelina Jolie did a phenomenal job and I highly recommend this movie. The critics that put this movie on the 10 worst movie list do not know what the hell they are talking about. The movies they enjoy and the movies that they hate make no sense to me. I have watched this movie and it totaly changed my life. How can you not be touched by it? I am a psychology/foreign language major who is planning on after receiving my doctorates going to work for such countries as the ones that Angelina has devoted her life to and the ones in this film. I can tell you that I cried the intire movie and can't even talk about it without crying. Are you people heartless? When I started out in the field of Psychology I wasn't sure which direction to go and after watching this film I have decided to go into Post Trauma/Grief counseling. I have also read Angelina's book on her travels and was touched as well by the work she has done. The things she has seen and witnessed are horrifing and I can't comprehend how more isn't done about the problems in these countries. After seeing this movie and reading her journal I was inspired to try to follow in this incredible woman's footsteps. Not only is she beautiful and an outstanding actress, but she is an inspirtational humanitarian and a great mother. If the world only had a little bit of her will and compassion for others things wouldn't be as bad off as they are. I also spent many many hours after reading her journals preparing my Philosophy paper for my college course on why America and the United Nations should help these countries. I received a very high grade on my paper because it is a cause I am passionate about thanks to Miss Jolie in her awarness of the issues. So maybe you all need to step back and look at the problem behind the film rather than the movie it's self. Was this review helpful? The contrast between the plight of (50 million world-wide) refugees and our world - we who have the luxury of going to a movie - will leave you raw if you have a heart to feel with. The movie is not pitched to the guests of a black-tie fundraiser, but to all of us in this world who have the resources and sensitivity to ~try~ to make a difference on earth. And the reward for enduring what I am sure will prove to be a haunting view for me personally in the years ahead? Love does triumph over all! As for the acting and story, Clive is possessed by this role and his performance is surely Oscar-worthy; Angelina's devotion to this cause is stirring. There has got to be something to it if a male movie-goer is crying in the first 5 minutes, and even 'unbelievable' parts have their day in the end. Having just seen "Beyond Borders" I already have the sense my longstanding monthly contribution to Doctors without Borders will seem quite inadequate... Watch it! My profession is international public health, so I'm quite familiar with the plights facing developing nations. I think it relates so much to angelina jolie, its unbielivable. every movement, every line, every thought thats going through muy head , makes it through to muy conclusions.. and my conclusion is that its a great movie...! I hope angelina jolie wins an oscar, but i was soo suprised is why the first weekend it was in 11th place, with only 2 million sold i thought for sure it would be up there with radio and scary movie 3.. so where the heck are ya people!!. go out and see it and make the second week the best!!stop waiting , and just go!! i'd definetly see it again at the movies, and i wanna buy it when it comes out great suprising ending , sad...!
