Overall the movie was written for 14 years old girl on twilight withdrawals needing a gothc romance fix. The acting is flat at best stilted ad worst and the only saving grace are the few moment Neil Patrck Harris graces the screen. The story could have been told better and I would have edited for a shorter run time but to be honest it was better than doing nothing.

This is a lovely film! My 13 yr old and I saw it today and really enjoyed the 'Beauty and the Beast' storyline. I am sure critics will be harsh with it, but it gave a positive message about caring for others, and putting others needs and concerns before your own. Don't view this film as a critic, just watch it and laugh and enjoy!

Why is it that people that thrive on the perpetual image of perfection and fame are the main source of critism for a film like Beastly. But not only have you managed in one fell swoop to damage the image of this film but that of its stars as well. Its callous and harmful, and in a term you wouldn't understand "unnecessary". People today are so self entitled and self important that you miss the very point of a film like this one. Its to remind us that we can look deeper if we dare to and make ourselves part of the solution and not the problem. But no...people like you only want to damage and ridicule what a few thought was worth their time and attention. Some of us still remember what its like to be ignored because we weren't the hot chick or the strapping jock in highschool or college. To not matter because we weren't socially relivant to the time when all that matters is beauty. I think that is sad really. That no one ever tried to look deeper into any of you. If they had perhaps they would have found more than ash and shame, but I severely doubt it as your MO still hasn't changed that much from then, still the bully and still seeking others out to trample. Well, there are a few of us little people still out here that won't stand idlly by and let something be punished for your short sight. Alex for starters did an amazing job in this film. He put more heart and soul in his performance than any of the recent dribble I've seen on the big screen. True enough he's beautiful and charming and thats what draws us into the story...but only at first. Its the soul and the passion that he threw behind every single aspect of the character...the way he makes you believe that he's given up until he realizes what could have been and what still might be if he just has a little faith and belief. The emotions that come at you through Alex's eyes are deep and fresh and beyond the stiff and lack lusture performances that I have seen pushed on audiences before. This actor is mor...
