Posted: 8/3/2005A review of Be Cool by premy602
I thought this movie was SOOOOOOO CORNY rather than "cool." Yeah it was so cool, it froze, because it $@#%ed just that much! The plot in this movie couldn't have been more STUPID! All these big time actors waisted their time. This movie was not worth it. I hope they were really getting paid. I thought Cedric and his crew were shameful. Gangstas, can NEVER be PROPER!!! NEVER!! And Vince Vaughn, he should NEVER play a black guy. He was all wrong. I mean some of it was funny, but for the most part he just got on my nerve being so dang corny!! I was upset to see that Uma Therma didn't whoop anybodies a**, Kill Bill was a much better movie for her! I didn't think they even needed the Rock and Andree 3000 in the movie. Their parts were basically overlooked anyways. The Rock had to be bold to play a gay character like Elliot. This movie was far from cool. The plot wasn't consistent enough for me. It should've been more focused. It was crazy as hell if anything. They should've called this movie "BE WHAT?" Cause after watching it you'll be left wondering looking around with a stupid look on your face like what the @#&*!

if you're looking for a way to help you sleep this will definitely do the trick. i don't know why so many people were so excited to see this movie. it was so stupid and not funny at all. my friend was practically snoring next to me. we had to get out of there before we all fell asleep. it was the worst movie of the century..i can't remember watching anything worse.

This movie was awesome Vince Vaughn was great, and The Rock was funny, then Andre 3000 was great in his major movie debut. Like always John Travolta was great with Uma Thurman.

Having been won over by the clever and enigmatic twists and turns of the this movie's predecessor, I was prepared to be impressed by it's sequel. Unfortunately, I was disappointed; and at times, just plain bored to death! This movie is full of "missed" attempts at humor, and is void of a believable plot. I guess the "Cool" refered to in this sequel's title got left on the cutting room floor.

This movie $ucked! It had so much rude humor and is a gangster wanna be! I went to see it with my best friend, her boy friend, and one of my guy friends. We all thought it was the worst movie ever. By the end of the movie half the people had left. The best part? WHEN IT WAS OVER!!!!

Posted: 3/21/2005A review of Be Cool by Disappointed748
This movie is the first movie that I have walked-out on in many years. 'Be Cool' promises so much, yet delivers very little. The cast has much potential for comedy and drama, but, it is an utter failure. 'Be Cool' cannot decide if it is the sequel to 'Get Shorty,' or the sequel to 'Pulp Fiction.' In either case, it fails. The film tries too hard to be suave and hip. What you get instead, is just a long, humorless, fragmented story. There are a couple of funny scenes, but, outside of that, not enough to make up for the rest of the production. This movie is a dog.

I was very much looking forward to this movie since Travolta and Thurman would be reunited, and Vaughn, Keitel, The Rock, Milian, Cedric The Entertainer, Andre 3000, and many more would be joining them-- a hands down, all-star cast. Halfway through the movie, however I found it simply disappointing. Many of the cast members are likelier to appeal to older audiences, but the humor and dialogue is best suited for a smart, albeit MTV crowd. There are quite a few laughs, including Vaughn's purposely-awkward portrayal of a slick, urban, recording manager, Andre 3000's rendition of a bumbling thug, and The Rock's over-the-top "monologue" from "Bring It On." There is even a special treat for Travolta-Thurman or "Pulp Fiction" fans-- the two actors share a sexy dance. Mostly, "Be Cool" tries too hard to be smart, witty, slick, and -- no pun intended -- cool, but just doesn't quite make it. In fact, one can't help but feel that the film is one long commercial for T-Mobile Sidekicks, (Thurman's numerous) beanies, hybrid cars, Burberry, and a visual plea to buy one of Milian's records. Nearly all of the actors' performances were excellent, particularly Thurman's; she wasn't trying to be funny, or edgy, she simply became a different person. As I said earlier, Vaughn, The Rock, and Andre 3000 were hilarious. However, this was the first time I was unhappy with Travolta's acting; he's just not believable as a nochalant, good-guy, assassin-turned-record producer.

Trash...that sums it up. A waste of a great cast of stars and wanna be stars. Saying that Vince Vaughn's character was good as some reviewers claim, is an insult to Black people everywhere!! The makers of this film should have watched "Snatch"..Or "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" These are prime examples of how to make a screwball gangster comedy! The only good thing about the movie is that I snuck in without paying. But after seeing it...I want somebody's money back!...Trash!! PS...Have you noticed that most of the folks that have given it great reviews have a lot of spelling errors in their reveiws?...Hmmm...lack of intelligence...like Becool?...Hmmm...Interesting.

The worst movie I've seen. This movie was horrible. John had too much make-up, I mean he looked fake. People walked out during the first five minutes and trust me I should have too. It never got better. It's pretty bad when the best part of the money is when someone is called a player. Go see "The Diaries of a mad black woman" now that movie is worth the money times 2.

Really poor movie that can't overcome poor writing, lack of discernable plot and trite stereotypes by attempting slapstick humor. Gangsta rappers and The Rock seem to have written it and then used drug money to get Travolta and Thurman to act in it. Music stunk, disjointed story, acting amateur or non-existent, nothing to detract attention from unbelievable plot. This one is trying to give Catwoman competition for worst picture. I went because Get Shorty was "pretty good" and because Pulp Fiction was fantastic. Travolta and Thurman should have never put their names on this one. I hope whoever thinks Gangsta Rap or any Rap is cute or funny or has any value whatsoever joins the inmates they worship as soon as possible.

well, to tell the truth i thought this movie was awful! it was very boring! you would think that with someone like John Travolta in it, it would be at least worthwhile...The plot of the movie is badly arranged and provides no real entertainment! If your thinking about seeing this movie,BE COOL and dont go see it!

I have to deny any claim as to this being the worst film ever. That would have to go to movies such as Manos and the Hands of Fate, or even a Travolta film, Battlefield Earth. Those do justice when it comes to horrible and tasteless movies. (The Punisher is also on my reprobate shelf, as well as Dungeons and Dragons.) This wasn't as tight, per se, as Get Shorty, it is true. There is a spot of weakness in the plot and some plain awkward scenes that just don't gel, either dialogue-wise or acting-wise. The Rock was decent, perhaps his best role yet, though not stunning. Cedric the Entertainer was more stunning than I have previously seen him, yet not earth-shattering, and Vince Vaughn was humourous, albeit not hilarious. Travolta, it seems, is getting a touch more senile, or at least off of his usual Chili Palmer act. He didn't seem as cool, nor witty as in the last film, and I actually found him to be the weakest part of the film. This could be caused by a poor script, as I found the film trying to relive the Chili Palmer of Get Shorty, not a growth of the character. Andre was disturbingly humourous, as the first screen with him on it made me fear that he would act over the top, as some actors do in their first "break-throug" role. He surprised me (or the director surprised me), to say the least and became one of the more likeable characters of the film, as well as funny. All in all, this movie was more rip-roariously funny than Get Shorty, while diminishing the quality of script and plot, thus making the film a little loose around the edges. A decent see, but not earth-quaking hilarious or smart funny. But definitely not the *worst* film ever.
