There actually was a plot, and although the movie sped along rather quickly, it was really funny. It's obvious that this movie is completely random, and just plain stupid from the previews so don't expect anything more that a few good laughs. hell, it's about ping pong, do you really think it's going to be an award winner? It was semi entertaining and had a few funny parts.. There was almost over kill on the plot it did have and it is completly random. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Goofy ENTER THE DRAGON parodyPosted: 9/6/2007A review of Balls of Fury by Giannico1 I enjoyed the fact that the Garant brothers did not take the movie too seriously. I liked the movie for the slapstick and some side gags. I also believe that the medium-sized star power helped out a bit. Christopher Walken is as big as you can get in the movie. He is a very good actor. Aside from Robert DeNiro, Walken can switch from drama to comedy at the drop of the hat.
Dan Fogler does a decent job as the protagonist. Some critic compared Fogler to the late Chris Farley. Let me get something off my chest, and I hope I don't get in trouble for it. Farley mostly screamed his dialogue and took his pratfalls. Fogler actually speaks his dialogue more than he screams and yells, which he did very few in the movie. Fogler is a decent actor, and he can only get better with more experience.
Now, for the ladies! Maggie Q of MI:3 and LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD fame does a pretty good job in the comedic role. Aisha Tyler, mostly from E! channel fame, did a pretty good job as well, despite the fact that she spoke very little and spit poisoned darts at people (no spoiler; it's been shown in trailers).
I liked the movie. It was a good comedic take on Hong Kong action movies. If you want to get a few good chuckles after a hard day, it is worth blowing some money. Just go see it. I went to this movie not expecting much, and I wasn't too dissapointed. I thought with Christopher Walken in it, it couldn't be all bad. Bad thing was it didn't even show him until a good 45-50 minutes into the movie, but his character was funny. I did like Dan Fogler and I'd like to see him in other movies in the future. If you want to see a silly, goof-ball of a movie see this movie. If not, wait for the DVD. Was this review helpful? The plot went by very quickly. Between the relationship with the guy and the girl, first she kicks his ass and beats him up, and then in the next scene she kisses him and says good luck on beating the dragon. The relationship didnt even build, it just went from i hate you, to i love you. Was this review helpful?
