Ray Park is one of my favorite actors, no his acting ain't nothing to talk about, but his moves are. This is the first movie where you can actually see his face,(in Xmen he had make up and was shown only ocassionally) and it's a shame that he had to wait so many years for it. Lucy Lu is athletic yet she is nowhere near the caliber of Ray, I belive she held him back, Ray also seemed to have gained some weight since his Darth Maul years, which explains why he was slower than he was on Mortal Kombat Annihilation, however again he was thrown into a bad fight scene with Lu, so he could not show everything he can do. I would want to see him in a movie with Jet Li as the antagonist, I believe in a movie like that we would be able to see what he is capable off. The movie's plot was semi interesting, the music was bad, Antonio's acting was top notch as always but the script wasn't helping him. Ray Park could have saved this movie had he been allowed to kick more butt. The most enjoyable part of the movie was Ray Park's Aerial into his butterfly twist. Was this review helpful? Too bad it never got anywhere close.I would have given it 0 stars, but it would be a good WB/TBN weekday movie.Small plot, no background on Lucy's character - just the pic of her holding her baby (who was blown up) and now she is a top assassin/agent - yea right. It was a good idea, but then the movie went down hill from there. Lucy's character had no depth, neither did Banderas. Effects were ok, but they paled due to the lack of story & energy. BTW, her martial arts skills need a butt-load of work. If your gonna do it, do it right, or get some good chinese stunt doulbles to do it for you. No offense Lucy, its the director, producer & all those likes that let you down.Banderas is a good actor who i used to like to watch. Now I dont know what happened - maybe there were no good scripts available & thot it was a good idea to ride the ";Charlies Angels"; aftermath. Doesn't matter cause he still gets paid tons more for me, even if this movie did bite-the-big one. His character was weak and the story line where he thot his wife died (& she the same) was way lame. I mean both of them were tricked, but neither went to a funeral or identified a body. They should got the crew from CSI (but then the movie would only be 20min - HEY, just right for TV!!!).Other than that, I thot it was a waste of good money (I would have had more satisfaction putting that $ in my 1.2% savings account and letting uncle sam tax 50% on the earnings). Anyway, if you have half a brain or just want to veg for a bit - go see this movie. If you want a good movie, look elsewhere. Was this review helpful? I had hoped for some good action and mindless fun, but it is just a terrible script, nonsensical story and laughable action. The action scenes come from the ";Lets blow it up"; school and even those are badly done and boring. The director ";Kaos"; (oh please) is a big deal in Thaiwan, they might want to send him to ESL 101 before his next English language film because nobody on that movie set could understand him. It's the only reason I can think of that this confusing piece of garbage was put together. I hate to break it to the studio but you did not just discover the next John Woo. Was this review helpful? Big, Big Disappointment. Banderas talked in monotone entire movie and Liu just stared at people. Just bullets flying and bombs exploding. Hokey is the word for the dialogue in this movie. I saw the trailers for this movie and was drawn by the action scenes. What a dissappointment. The only thing I enjoyed was Lucy in a role that had very little to brag about.Banderas acting was quite a bit less than I had hoped in his weak role that had potential but lacked the potency of being an action figure. The special effects were what drew my interest but the directing of scenes and car chases were minor league. Don't waste your money. Was this review helpful?
