I am not normally a big drama fan but this movie had enough of everything in it to keep my attention. The whole movie revolves around the cinematography. Most of the scenery is brilliant. Some of them look like they are done on set with CGI background. Drover and Mrs. Boss play off each other very well. A great story and cast. This would be a great rent for a date. Nicole was awesome and you could tell shes inlove with her homeland, i felt a kindred spirit in Nicole in this role. i have seen her in other movies but this one really made me appreciate her for a strong and real type person. this movie should get some major awards in the Oscars and if it doesn't we then we can contribute the underhandedness of the movie makers and their uppity-ups for the underhanded dealings. Don't get me wrong, I liked it a lot. It's just that it semed to want to be more than what it is.
What it is, though, is a beautifully shot and nicely acted movie, which has some very grand moments.
Director Baz Luhrmann, an accomplished talent, does a fine job of telling an epic story with humor and romance kicked in.

It has action, adventure, love, suspense, and a great story on top of everything. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman are a perfect match as the prim and proper Mrs. Boss and rough-n-ready Dodger. Lady Ashley which played by Nicole Kidman is really nice,I can say this is the best role which played by Nicole Kidman in recently.....
Not only Nicole,Hugh Jackman also done well in this movie.What I can say is all the actors and actress in this movie had done a good job !!!!!

It is for the most part a never ending series of static scenes trying to get the most perfect and dramatic shot. What appeared to be a plot might have had some potential but there is far too much that is hokey and unbelievable. Has to be one of the worst "movies" I have ever suffered through. An utterly worthless waste of time. The only thing that kept me from walking out was that I am in Mazatlan, Mexico and the cost was the equivalent of only $2US and a very large tub of popcorn was $2.50US. Was this review helpful? A weak script dooms the enterprise to mediocrity, however, as I never really got engaged by the plot or actors, though I liked Bryan Brown and the aborigines. I could see each turn of plot coming from a mile away! Oh! Her husband is going to die! Oh she's going to decide to stay! Oh! Hugh Jackman's character is going to fall in love with her! Oh!....you get it right?
The best part about the movie was the scenery...but for as high as movie theater prices are today, you might as well save some money and watch a travel video about Australia. The only thing that was worth the price of admission was the scene in which Hugh Jackman dumps a bucket of water over his naked torso.
Do us a favor, when it releases into DVD...just cut the rest and play the bucket scene over and over. Please. Was this review helpful?
