If your thinking about seeing this, you should.
The only thing I didn't like about this movie, was there was a lot missing...
What happen to the kids? What happen to the other captives? Did they run?
How did "Jaguar Paw" rescue his family?

Thats Fine. I have No problems with that religion or them. What I did have a problem or a mere concern was the Profane Language used against another human being, this case the Director Mel Gibson, calling him gay and racist against his own community. Now I wonder. Last I was taught was that the Jewish did not use such words in their language, that they were respectful and very eloquent when it came to expressing themselves, especially about their religion. Now I ask myself: Has the Jewish Community decayed so much that they let this " impostors" use their name in vain and call themselves "jews" too? I myself do not think such a thing, but I call upon it to the person responsible that next time think what he writes and to do not use the Jewish Community's name as a means to express his outrage towards the Director and its apologizing message. Dont use ur Jewish religion in vain; you as a jewish knows better than anyone not to judge or use such language. That is of course, if you really are a Jew... Oh and this site is used merely for the purposes of critizicing a movie, not a self expression of one's self. And to finalize, This Movie is The Best Among the Year's Films. Thumbs Up! Very Thrilling and suspenseful. A Tremendous Good Time of a movie. Its Just an Observation.... Was this review helpful? Beautifully filmed, great cinematography, superior editing, etc, etc. But from a historical standpoint, it's a bit confusing. Yes, Mayans were rounded up and carried off to a huge city to be sacrificed. But by the Aztecs. The Mayan civilization ended about 900 A.D., just when the Aztec civilization came into being. The scene where dead bodies are rolled down the temple is historically accurate but it was done by the Aztecs. Specifically, by Montezuma I, grandfather of Montezuma II, during the opening of a new temple. The Spaniards arrived at what is now Vera Cruz, Mexico, in 1519. On his deathbed, Montezuma II would ask Cortez to raise his children. By this time, it was the Aztecs doing the sacrificing, not the Mayans. But who cares about historical accuracy? It's a great movie and Mr. Gibson has done it again! Apocalypto is out on DVD by now and it includes a Was this review helpful? This is the best movie I have ever seen! I am so proud of all the actors especially Dalia Hernandez (seven)! She is from Mexico and this is her first film. She and all the others did an excellent job! Rudy Garcia (jaguar paw) is sooo sexy! This movie is very realistic and many people now know this history of the mayan civilization! This is the BEST film of 2006. If you haven't seen it, buy it or rent it. It is a bit gory, so don't let the kiddies watch. But it is an incredible artistic creation. Incredible action. Despite all of the blood and guts of this movie, it was truly one of the heart and soul of a people. Of course we all cheered for Jaguar Paw and his familys freedom. If you thought that Jaguar had problems with the invading tribe, guess again. When I saw the arrival of the Europeans on the beach, the first thing I said was....Now youre screwed!. If you know something about mayan history, you can see that there are many references in the film to a number of reasons that could explain their disappearence a misterious desease between humans, some kind of plague in the crops, the violence, the masses thirsty for blood looking for entertainment, the superstition, the manipulation from the religious and political leaders, the arrival of europeans to the continent...
I was expecting to see in this film a reference to one of the possible reasons for the colapse of this civilization... instead, the film brilliantly reminds us that all those reasons contributed to the same colapse. It wont get anything, probably, because of Who directed it, but it deserves a Lot more accolades than what it was nominated for. Its a shame when non-essentials interfere with the work at hand, which is basically the opposite of how this movie was constructed. The movie is not orthodox as reviewers or critics might have said on all websites that review all the movies. Its just BIG and weird, very strange at the climax at the top of the pyramid. I see this use of make-up and costumes, sun worship, an allusion to our current top of government in our country, the us of a. Controlling the people with supersition is very much at use today, folks, and this movie brings this underlying current (imposing Fear on people, directing them) in our political system to light. No one has ever made a movie like this before, and the first to try (Gibson) made an FANTASTIC movie! The cast is wonderful the omen girl is unforgetable, the pregnant woman and her child are peacefully rewarding, and the villans with perfect faces makes it a perfect motion picture for that frame of time from our ancestors!

This movie should get a hundred Oscars. The great cinematography is exuberant. The sound is delightful. The acting is supreme. The story is incredible. The overall logistics of the production of this film, will set the stage for the validation of a higher level of filmmaking. AWESOME!!! This movie was great. I convinced a few friends to go with me, they were hesitsnt but were sitting up in their seats about 10 mins into the movie. You are constantly rooting for Jaguar Paw to make it back to his familiy against all the odds. There is even a modern day curse word used (funny). The fight sequences were action packed, I loved it. This is bye far the best movie Ive ever seen. I was most impressed with the fact that the cast had no brand name actors yet the acting was so superb. The costumes and make-up were unbelievable. I think Mel Gibson out-did himself this time. This movie will be the topic of dicussion on many lips for a long time. Congratulations Mel on a great job. Was this review helpful?
