With an epic historic novel, the movie portrayal should be magnificent and it should sweep the audience into the inevitability of the story. At times, Anna Karenina seemed more like a bored housewife than someone who was confronted with a love that could not be denied. The historic portrayals of the magnifiicant lives of the Russian nobility with all of its intrique versus the hard lives of the peasants could've been played up a little more. What the relationships were among many of the characterers was somewhat confusing. It was an okay movie; it lacked the passion and feeling that makes it believable that one could throw away everything for love.
