Many moments in this movie were very satisfying, especially the crazed Rosie, answer to PEACE, left wing chanters, and hilarious terrorists. The shot of Cubans trying to get away is one of my favorite moments.
That being said, why did they try to push the humor with the foul language (mostly from kids, no less) and repeated jokes? Were they really that depserate for ideas? I could have easily given them many more ideas, as I am sure most conservatives could- from the women of The View to Tom Cruise and Sean Penn- there was much more to poke fun at. A few more brains and a little less foul and I would have been telling everyone to see it. As it is, well you decide.
I liked going just to prove a point- but it's a shame we don't have more to choose from.
Maybe this will be the start of a new generation of patriotic choices. Was this review helpful? It was however, funny and enjoyable while thought provoking and intelligent. I am happy to say as an american conservative it is refreshing to see someone other than Michael i need to find a real job Moore and Oliver give me a break Stone bashing politics and issues. With that said I would not recommend this movie unless you have an open mind, a conservative outlook, and deep pockets because dame movies are expensive these days. Was this review helpful? My all-time favorite actor, Jon Voigt, was in it. So glad we could see the other side of the story. Conservative ideals? Somewhat. Lessons...yes. Protect your constitution, don't try to destroy it.
This was clearly about Michael Moore. If he had been living in a Socialist country and tried to create political movies that were against the Socialist political stand, he would be jailed or more.
You have so few rights in the countries he tries to promote as good. Cuba? They have to rely on the old USSR and now Venezuala for their support. Like a bottle fed baby that refuses to grow up and move onto meat and vegetables.
If someone dropped him down in the middle of Iran, Cuba or old world war 2 Germany with little more than the clothes on his back to live like one of the masses and critisize the government, he wouldn't last long. He would cherish the freedoms he enjoyed in America all over again.
Thank you Jon Voigt for seeing some of the light about the security of our nation and the defense of the constitution. Thank you to all the other actors who enjoy their rights and took a chance to appear in the movie that the higher ups in the media will condemn them for and may try to ruin their careers. Thank you. This movie is a poor representation of a truly politically conservative mindset. I found the humor foul and inappropriate. Children with filthy mouths and adults with perverse day dreams are certainly not my idea of conservative or funny. I'm still waiting for Hollywood to give us a humorous movie from a politically conservative view point. The premise of the story had promise, but the results were misguided. By the end of the movie, I wanted to slap the writers and producers. I want to support a REAL effort...if you CAN write it, we will come. Was this review helpful? Of course it isnt "great cinema" in the class of Casablanca, but I wasn't looking for that. Mr. Zucker has a long track record of making extremely funny satires of genres, and this is probably his masterpiece. However, I am extremely disappointed in MSN for their handling of this movie. When they can find critic reviews for such junk as the Chihuahua movie, they can't find ONE critics review for American Carol? NOT ONE? And they just couldnt find pictures of any of the movies stars other than Kelsey Grammar?
And we are called conspiracy theorists if we complain about this mistreatment of the conservatives in America? MSN, how about fair treatment of this movie, which I know is doing far better than the "box office" numbers are showing. I saw it on the third night, and the showing before mine was packed, mine was packed, and the one after it had a long line.. people will see good conservative humor if we are given a chance. Funny throughout and very refreshing! Great song also. I was beginning to feel lack of american presence everywhere. It was great to share feeling the pride, respect and gratefulness that we all owe to our country. I came home and gave my two daughters a $20 each, so they can take a friend to watch the movie. It means a lot because I've lost most of my retirement and college fund investments -a 20 yrs savings, in 2 weeks! Go watch it! Send a message to Hollywood stars who wiill move to another country for the next 4 yrs and leave us experimenting with more congressional spending! Country First! Was this review helpful?
