I guess now I'll read the book. This satire on 80' is like "The picture of Dorian Grey" on XIX. And they both are great!
As for the humor - I laughed on the scene in the toilet (with that red-haired guy) so much that I had to Pause the movie...
And actually I didn't realize, what happened after his secretary watched his diary... I really should read the book then...

This movie is neither comedy or horror, it is really satire. Very, very dark satire.
If you don’t want to watch violence, don’t watch it. If you want to watch this movie, try to see beyond the violence to what it is really about. One man can’t keep up with the overinflated expectations of Yuppiehood and goes Psycho. That’s not all, but it’s a start. It's about rebelling against what society and other people expect. It's about not being able to live up -- even to your own expectations.
Satire, metaphor, and yes, comedy in some measure. Not meant to scare as much as to make you think. Very well done.

I could spend hours talking about this film I could talk about the startlingly insightful social commentary, the remarkable performance of Christian Bale, the compelling intensity of all that is business card orientated and I could even discuss possibly the most intricate illustration of irony to ever grace the silver screen, but alas that might bore you so instead ill leave you with one thought. This is not a horror although it is at times horrific but seriously go watch it and do me a favor lest I come chop you up with some sort of kitchen utensil DON'T MISS THE POINT. As a single girl in my early 20's (at theater time)this movie made me want to swear off dating all together! The only second that didn't have me scared out of my mind was when watching a naked serial killer run through the halls of his apartment building with a chainsaw. If you're in the dating game and a female....don't watch this movie! Personally, I don't think this one would even be a good scary movie to watch with a guy. Two BIG thumbs down. Christian Bale gives out a performance that proves that he is one of the most talented actors around. The ending is uncertain and the movie does get a little slow at times, but little one liners for Bale keep the film going. I would reccomend this movie to those who have a dark sense of humor. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  Feast for the eyesPosted: 11/25/2002A review of American Psycho by Anonymous When I heard this Cult book was being turned into a movie I was both excited and sceptical.Its not a bad film the acting is good and the plot is sickly amusing.Set in the 80's Pat Bateman looks the perfect yuppie, working for his Fathers firm. on the surface he looks like he has it made.But this guy is one sick twisted mother f..His love of power tools to assist in his blood lust is wildly inventive and grisley.If it wasn't for the dark humour in this film, i think it would be almost to disturbing to watch.However not a patch on the book but still worth a look.
