On my way to see a blocbuster which turned out to be full, I ended watching this film because nothing else caught my attention. I did not expect any firework and was hoping that Kates pretty dimples could entertain me enough to stop me from falling asleep...
A couple of hours later i was reluctant to leave the place, hoping that somehow more was to magically appear on the screen! The movie was funny, sad, refreshing and brought back thousands of memories that we all have experienced. It was just perfect. Was this review helpful? The music was what made this movie great. Kate Hudson is a great actress as well... Was this review helpful? Maybe if I was in an altered state the movie might have been palatable. Was this review helpful? It's obvious that director, Cameron Crowe, put his heart into this film. It shows in the wonderful characters he's created and the lush story I love watching again and again. Was this review helpful? It's different than any boring love story, and has a great soundtrack. It will make you want to dance, party, and become a rockstar! (and if not a star, at least a groupie.) The cast could not be more perfect, and the young, aspiring reporter is cuter than cute. Watch it now! Was this review helpful? To my understanding This film provided an insight to the general functions associated with the support and <;dis->;organisation involved with 'a rock band' making an image and a name, but as StillWater's will lie... (which stinks!)but moving on to the amount of dedication required by the 'musicians', to create an identity on and retain relationship off stage but also with the love and support of the 'BANDAIDES^' who play an important role to band aswellas giving a sense of direction and substance to the flim with ";keepn it real."; I felt this approach gives the impression to myself of personal feeling towards BAND + AIDES together as group and on an individual basis ?MYSTERIOUS?Any way as this aint no rolling stone, if i may as they say-ramble on. I Come to conclusions on occasions this is an excellent piese of artistic ability ofboth actors, actress, and the rest of it. Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 3/9/2003A review of Almost Famous by Loverman16194 Cameron Crowe just makes good films. Period. Almost Famous is NO exception. The film is centered around a 15 year-old boy who goes on tour with an up-and-coming rock band called Stillwater in 1973. Along the way, he experiences 1st hand what the life of a rockstar is really like, falls in love with a girl, and at the same time, finding his place in the world! The soundtrack for the film was composed by singer/songwriter Nancy Wilson. Each song in the film complements each scene perfectly. Almost Famous is one of the best films of our time. Period. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 3/13/2003A review of Almost Famous by JOVIGURL Cameron Crowe has struck gold with Almost Famous. The story of William Miller, a high school kid from California trying to make it in the music reviewer world in the 70's. What kid or adult for that matter wouldn't want that job? Miller sets out on a rock n roll journey with the band Stillwater against the wishes of his mother, Elaine. Miller comes from a household where rock n roll is evil and drugs and promiscious sex are crimes of immorality yet dives head first into a world with a foundation bulit on those blind faiths. Along the way he finds friends and even love with the enticing ";band aide";, Penny Lane. The movie's soundtrack is of course amazing and sure to bring back memories for those who lived in the time period. With some help from his writing idol, Lester Bangs, played prolifically by Phillip Seymour Hoffman, he writes his first major article for Rolling Stone Magazine and becomes one step closer to realizing his dream of writing. Billy Crudup amazes viewers with his complicated role as Russell Hammond, the guitar player for the band who finds he has a dillemma with fame and the true reason he joined the band. Jason Lee departs from the tiresome front man role routine to give in inspirational look from a fan who just happens to be in a band. Frances McDormand, Bijou Phillips, Fairuza Bulk, and Jimmy Fallon also have roles that just add to the story's overall luster. Was this review helpful?
