okay, i dont know about anyone else, but the first two alien movies were the best. Alien was great, aliens was awesome, alien 3 and resurrection were terrible movies (espicially resurrection) im only going to buy 1 2 on DVD only because the others were so terrible.

Alien, by far, has to be the greatest scifi movie ever made. EVER. Not only is it scary enough to love, but it has great dialouge and speach. And actually has a good storyline not like a lot of other scifi movies that were made. The personalitys of each character fit well with there expressions and movements. I love this movie.

the Thought of an alien life form that lives inside a human host is one of the most terrifying thoughts ever made... then the alien comes out and begins growing and making a hive... how insane... the acting was good... a bit bad at points and sigourney weaver did well at her role as ripley and so did Serrkitt as Dallas... even though he died early in the movie.
Alien is the ultimate Sci-Fi flick, the best all time. It's a great movie to watch on DVD, but better in a movie theater. To really appreciate how scary this movie is, you had to have seen it in a theater when it first came out. There was very little publicity about the movie, so the plot and characters were unknown. Sitting in that dark theater, literally on the edge of your seat, scenes like the creature popping out of the pod just scarred the crap out of you. Anyway, I rate this movie right up there with "Blade Runner" has an all-time favorite, especially seen on the big screen.

This movie took horror films too a new level. Based loosely on a 1950's Sci-Fi Film "It-The Terror From Beyond Space", this film takes the audience on a excursion into a nightmare where you feel you can never wake up from. The errie feeling of the dark and foreboding ship, likeable characters, the first real looking cyborg with his own agenda, and the most terrifying creature in movie history, makes this an instant classic! When that egg pod opened up , you knew something was going to happen. But when the facehugger shot out and attached itself to Hurt's character, people in the audience had to scrape themselves off the ceiling, they jumped so high! But that was only the beginning of the Non-Stop action that was to come. Around every turn, every nook and cranny, there was death awaiting. Weaver managers to take her at first, secondary role and become one of the most kick-ass heroes in this genre of films. Everything about this movie has yet, to this day, been surpassed. Though-out movie history, every generation has had their legendary monsters. First, Frankenstein, then King KonG, The Creature of the Black Lagoon, The 70's brought you the Exorcist. But, it wasn't until 1979 that the most fiendish creature in any generation was created. And he's still out there, waiting for his next victim. Can you imagine if they ever got to Earth???? Maybe someday??????

I love this movie and it is such a classic. I love the fact that it is so simple. There's just seven people in the whole thing and it is just about them trying to survive this alien. I love that there are no catch phrases or over muscled celebrities. It's just a get out while you can kind of movie. Although it has one of my favorite horror movie rules in it and that is never go after the cat. Cats will always lead you to your death!

Since 1979, when I first read the novelization of this film, I became a fan. I saw it three times, at age nine, in the theatre, and it went from there. I became a fan of the Alien saga.

Having seen the widescreen, extended version of this film in VHS format, it really is great, although some of the shots are faded. I can't wait to see this on DVD, along with Aliens (1986) the extended version as well. The re-release of this sci-fi classic is inspirational, and should be terrific with the new added features (previews, makings of, etc.).

What a great series of films, and I hope that they continue to make more films for the Alien series. The movie novels, spinoff novels, comics by Dark Horse, miniatures games, and soundtracks are terrific. Five stars, 20th Century Fox!

Alien was the scariest movies I had ever seen. I saw it three nights in a row when it came out in 1979. My friends and I lost more popcorn from the scares than we ate. Great special effects, great acting and one of the few movies in history that have had several successful sequels. Which I might add were also great movies. I did not love Alien3, but, I did like it. If you haven't seen the movie, what are you waiting for?
