this movie made me cry, it was so romantic. i REALLY want to have lived in the 60's... like, being a teen in the 60's. seriously, i would give my life just to go to one anti-war protest. i'm totally serious. this movie helped me live it.

5 stars from me, I loved it and will watch it often in the future! What a blast from the past! Great job folks, all of you! Do something else soon! Let us not forget one of the last things that j. lennon said before his death - "what are you doing about the revolution now?" - r. robinson MN

I don't know whether it is my age and the fact that I lived through all the junk going on back then or what, but I found myself hundled in the fetal position reaching for a good stiff drink after about 45 minutes into the movie. The Beatles' music was what we as 60's survivors used to sheild us from all the things going on. We would slide past our parents who were watching the horrid news of the day and find safe haven in the soothing songs of love and peace. The music shielded us from the reality of the times and to put the two things together in a film sort of stripped away the comfort that that songs brought to us. The movie was great. It was ingeniously put together and the actors were absolutely perfect. It was just very difficult to merge the comforting melodies with the hideous realities ...... again.

This was a great movie that brought out all sides of the Beatles music and represented a different side of the songs without changing them to much. Jude fit his character perfectly, i could see him as a Beatle.

I've watched it three times in a row so far. across the universe captures the university, 60s, war, family and music culture. Beatles songs are really extremely well done. completely engrossing.

"Across the Universe" was one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen. In the end it was just pointless.

I'm not a Boomer, but not not young either. I didn't like it, but I don't really like musicals in general. Plus, I went to it with my 13 and 16 year olds, and was not very pleased to see drugs and sex glorified to the extent that they were. At the end, I just simply found it boring. I left on a bathroom break and then stayed in the lobby for a while playing video games. I will sum up the movie for you: Young people live together in dumpy house (ala "Real World"), hook up for sex (straight and otherwise), get high a lot, and protest war. Oh, and they sing a Beatles song every five minutes or so while people dance in the background. I will state for the record though that my teens thought it was the best movie ever.

First of I have to agree with the majority of reviewers and say that this film was truly amazing. Having read some of the less appreciative reviews, I have to conclude that maybe musicals aren't for everyone, for I can see no other reason not to like this film. Personally I am very passionate about theatre(the live kind) and cinema usually takes second place, because I fell that very rarely do you find that connection with the audience that you get when watching theatre. This is film however (for me) achieves that. Some would say that the "trippy" moments in the film were perhaps a little overdone, but for me the magic was in watching these scenes and becoming so completely engrossed it was like I too was having an acid trip. And then of course you have the music, what movie wouldn't benefit from a Beaatles soundtrack? I loved the interpretations of the songs, because they made me actually think about the words and the meanings behind them, which even though i've heard these songs for =most of my life, i'd never really done before. I'm only 18 and I often feel like todays genertaion lacks some of that passion and freedom that was present in the characters so beautifully portrayed by the actors, so watching that for me was invigorating and filled me with a sense of purpose and possibility. There were two quotes that for me represents some key themes. "Who you are defines what you do" - the characters and the different paths they takes "In these time music is the only thing that makes sense"- basically sums up the whole musical bit So after this longwinded review, whats my final verdict? Go see it with an open mind, and enjoy it.

Lets get this straight. I love the Beatles, with all my heart, and I'm 13 years old, so big deal right? Therefore, when i first saw the commercial for this movie,I was exuberant! I bought the soundtrack before watching it, the music is just fabulous. I got together with a group of friends and we headed down to the nearest theater to watch it; it was the first day it was in theaters, i forget the date. I must say, after watching it , that i most definitely recommend anyone to go see this movie. It's effects are fantastic, the music is the BEST, and its so original, it just pops out from other movies. I had no flaws with this movie, absolutley the bestttt. You must go watch this movie! =]

I am a Beatles fan, and a musical fan. A Beatles musical can't miss, right? I'll tell you if I ever see one. This movie is NOT a musical. This movie should have been marketed by its proper genre: A series of really cool Beatles cover music videos strung together by a sad excuse of the plot. I loved the music. The visual effects were dizzying, but I can imagine that, in small doses, is enjoyable. However, the rapid-fire tempests of color wound up overwhelmiing me to the point that it was uncomfortable. This is very much an "art" piece, more than a story piece. I did not care about the characters. I found them all to be rather exaggerated and unreal. The storyline was impossible to follow, with characters randomly disappearing and showing up again... and yet, I encourage you to see it and gather your own opinion. -Gil

I went to see this after my daughter saw it and told me how awesome it was. I went to a late, late show and LOVED IT. I'm old enough to remember the Beatles first hand and thought Julie Taymer did a wonderful job. Joe Cocker had the perfect song for him. Sang it like nobody else could.

OMG!!!!!! this is the best movie i have ever seen in my whole entire life i was so excited about the movie that i bought the soundtrack before i even ever saw the movie i can't wait to see it again and again and again the only thing that stinks is that there is only one theater around me that is playing it for some reason which is about 30 minutes away from my house i don't know why this isn't playing everywhere it definitely deserves to i mean Hairspray stayed in alot of theaters for a long time and it wasn't even as half as good as this one it was probably just because Hairspray had a lot of big sars so what if this movie doesn't have big stars in it this a excellent and perfect movie it deserves so much better than the way the thaters and critics are treating it if you don't see it you are missing out on a fun and entertaining event YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
