I was wondering if Keanu would actually read this. I am not a crazy person or anything like that. Far from it. I see movies and have my favorite actors and actresses, but any time I see Keanu, he seems alone, he seems like he questions things. Is this all to life, this cant be it! You see what I am trying to say... may have been said plenty of times before, I am just a small time girl, not famous at all, writing this email already says that. I guess I just want nothing but happiness for him, to finally have him shout I have it all!!!! Only when I see him I know there is somthing missing, I know the feeling. It can become boring having it all. (Material that is.) It has been said before all those material things dont hug back and give you the one thing you yearn for geniuine love.I know it can become scary does this person want me for me or is it because of who and what I am? If he wants to email me or just to have a new friend not looking for any material gain whatsoever, just someone who can relate, please let him know he can always count on me. A friend. Sincerly, A friend you can count as true blue.

this movie was a big letdown. id been wanting to see this movie ever since i saw the limited previews for it and i was finally able to see it the other night. what a waste. it was so confusing. i couldnt wait for the movie to end. the way the movie was made was probably the only bright spot. i would say seeing it once would be enough. no need to go out and buy it.

I prayed for this movie to end. There were some parts that were genuinely funny and entertaining, but the animation was so distracting that it made it hard to really decipher where the scenes were going or how they all connected. The character Arcter (Fred) was also very hard to figure out. Just when I thought I knew him he would become someone else. Im guessing the film just didnt have the time or depth to really develop who he was -- the book probaby did, but I havent read the book. Overall, I found this movie boring and confusing and the animation distracting. Sorry.

I recently saw A Scanner Darkly and i loved it. Keep in mind I am a fan of Philip K. Dick so my veiw might be slightly skewed. The movie is the first adaptation of one of Dicks novels that really stays true to the book and keeps the overall feeling of maddness that characterizes most of Dicks work. The animation is extremly well done. Although the movie could have been done without it, it adds so much to the experience. The strange drugged out conversations are present but some of the more poignent ones are left out. ( If id known it was harmless id have killed it myself is in there but its out of context). The acting was pretty good. Even Keanu didnt screw it up (i guess the only thing he can act as is a burnout). Overall id say it was a great movie and even the people who i saw it with who had never read a Philip K. Dick book liked it.

A scanner darkly needs to be seen on the big screen for full drug effect. This is not your usual spoonful of hollywood crap. This is an actual intellectual film. You have to think when you watch this movie. If you have never seen a Philip K Dick book turned movie, you should be warned they are slow with twisting plots. The animation was perfect to make you feel like one of the druged out characters in this film. There is slapstick drugy humor and tweaky animation that envelops you. The cast was a perfect combination to play this rowdy cracked out crew of society throw aways. Not one person walked out of this film. I give it two thumbs up and highly reccomend it to anyone who wants to see a film that will make you think. Sit back and enjoy the ride of this perfectly depicted story. Philip K Dick would be proud.

Saw it today it was dumb and slow. Saw people walking out of the theatre. I feel like it was a waste of my time. To me it looked like a kid wrote this in one or two days .....SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TAKE YOUR WIFE OUT FOR DINNER INSTEAD!!! AND ,AND ,AND the people that gave it 5 Star much have got pay to do it............

I went to see this movies based on the reviews from this page..and OH MY GOD never again. The movie was not dark enough I was still able to see the screen. It was long and drawn out.. and the ending was horrible. We all know drugs are bad.. and maybe if I took some I probably would have enjoy the movie more. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I love Keanu and the rest of the cast which didnt mind see this movie, because of them. Although their voices, and the amination were great the story line alot to be desired. It need something to give it that umf. My advice wait for it to come on fox, WB, or any of the locate network channels..not worth cable. The above comments that state this was a great movie must have came from the writer.... ps people were walking out of the movie ..I only stay because I live in NY, and my tix cost me 10.75!!! NOT WORTH IT....

I enjoyed the movie immensely. Very surprising was the comedic undertones written into the characters played by robert downey junior, woody harrelson, and rory cochrane. Keneau reeves plays the perfect straight man to the almost 3 stooges like friends that are basically addicted to a future drug D. Not having read the book was probably a benefit since this movie on its own is in my opinion revolutionary in its frenetic like pace that complements the brother watching you story, akin to a character in itself. This movie may turn out to be a cult classis! I hope I am the first to say this. The casting was unbelievable and if robert downey doesnt win an award or at least nominated I will be truly amazed.

See A Scanner Darkly with an independent-film state of mind. It will get a limited release, which is for the best since itll be hard to compete with the summer blockbusters. And theres a reason for that. This film is more than just the bizarre visuals, this is something that you take in and think about afterwards. It is more of a close-up look at a heavily-monitored and drugged-out society - there is no actual plot or any major action scenes (and no Hollywood happy-ending, which is not necessarily a bad thing). The dialogue is the best part of the film, especially from Robert Downey Jr. as Barris. Barris comes up with some of the most surreal and hilarious quips ever devised. Woody Harrelson as Ernie also has an excellent role, going from calm to violent in 2 seconds flat. Rory Cochrane has some great scenes as the burned-out Charles, which you will have to see to believe. The scenes with leads Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder often drag and tend to slow the movie down, but the film does pick up some speed at the end. A Scanner Darkly may not be about flashy comic-book heroes or handsome pirates, but I believe it should earn the term of sleeper-hit.

Much like eating fifty hard-boiled eggs in one hour, this movie is difficult to devour, yet unassumingly filling. Richard Linklater established a glaring, jarring and brilliantly unique animated visual style for his previous film Waking Life, and then incorrectly believed he should employ that style for subsequent films. This is a perfect example of a film that would have been infinitely more enjoyable without the distracting interpolated rotoscope-animation visuals Linklater more effectively created for a different movie..... Posted: 7/3/2006A review of A Scanner Darkly by Charles1030
Cinematic synapses misfire in this Philip K. Dick adaptation. But Whatever the answer is, audiences may find theres less than meets the eye in Richard Linklaters deeply intriguing but almost too-faithful adaptation of Philip K. Dicks nightmarish 1977 novel about government surveillance, fractured identity and dope-fueled paranoia. I thought that Audiences compelled by professional obligation will be this films most likely outreach, with those sitting in the middle of the aisles most likely to last through the duration. But This gifted writer-director isnt out to dull the masses with cinematic opium. Embedded in the visionary headtrip of A Scanner Darkly is a hotly political call to arms.

using the amazing art of rotoscoping, this peice earns my respect with the first fram of the preview. The las Phillip K. Dick movie to be adapted was Paycheck, and before that Minority Report. Minority was an excellent movie, but Paycheck was a huge...bummer. (way to go John Woo). Phillip K. Dick books are ecxellent, and I think only a true fan can grasp them, and turn them into a movie. Hopefully this is the case. I will recommend this for Cast, technique and director. Tell me what you think. -Arty

This movie offers a glimpse of where they think America is heading. The War on Drugs has gone off the deep end and the populance of america are being watched 24-7 even spyed on in their own house by the government. All this paranoia just to thwart the people of America from drugs. I mean if you really think about it, you can never really stop EVERYONE from using drugs, you just cant. But anyway movie looks interesting, the animation especially, i will look forward to seeing this.
