It wasnt just about kinky sex at all like people are claiming. I loved how the camera zoomed in on intense moments, the setting, characters, sort of gave you a fantasy, and the soundtrack is just pulsating. The movie is about a steamy affair that lasted for about 2 months. Mickey Rourke(John), and Kim Basinger(Elizabeth aka Lizzie) were at their sexiest, they both had cute soft voices. Kim had that blonde bombshell appeal, and Mickey had that mysterious aura. John had ways of seducing Lizzie mentally. You have to put on the subtitles for this one, and pay attention to every word and detail. This wasnt a movie to exploit women neccessarily. It showed how a man can lose the woman he loves by too much ego, lust,and pride. How love is unpredictable, how it can make you uninhibited. It was a cat and mouse game at first, but eventually it got serious, John tested Lizzie too much, too far, in the end. This movie gives a good lesson. It showed the power struggles men and women have amongst each other. Pay attention to the depth of every moment. I just love it!!!! Was this review helpful? I was astonished by it. It has got to be one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Mickey Rourke, along with Kim Bassinger were great in this film. I have a feeling I will purchasing it very soon.
