I had a book report to do on 1984. We had to read the book and watch the movie and then write a 5 pargraph essay on the differences and similarities between the book and the movie. I read half the book then watched the movie. I understood the movie up to the part where I read, but after that I was a little bit confused. I definately liked the book better. The acting was excellent but I did not like the way they made the movie. It was quite depressing. Plus, I thought all the actors were ugly and I wanted Julia to be pretty, but she wasn't. I hate reading a book and then watching the movie becasue I always have a picture in my mind how the charaters should look like. Then I get dissapointed when the girl is not as pretty as I wanted her to be. It's a bit silly and immature but that's the way I am. So I do understand if u liked the movie. Also, it is very R, if u know what I mean. They don't leave out anything. Trust me.

A terrific movie. John Hurt is amazing. Richard Burton adds thought and gravitas. Shot in a stark cinemotographic style--bleak, hard edged, unforgiving. Does justice to the story, pulls no punches, lets Orwell's message come through.
