This movie could have chosen better actors. The whole movie was action-packed. But couldnt this great director the man who directed Die Hard 2 do a better job on this movie.

Renny Harlin as the director and the producer of "Speed"?
Needlesstosay, I wasn't disappointed. The first thing one should know if they have never "experienced" a Renny Harlin film, is "Leave your brain at the door", and just go with it!
If fact, for those have seen "cliffhanger", the DVD contains scenes that were deleted because they were as Mr Harlin deem "unrealistic".(Like Stallone being submerged in ice water with just a shirt and not suffering from hypothermia is realistic).
Anyways, Although this one was not quite as good as Die Hard 2, It was far better than Die Hard with a Vengence, which it was obviously trying to copy in regards to plotline. The producer also borrowed a plot twist scene from Speed.
nevertheless, the action sequences were great, and the main characters, although not up there as far as the most memorable heros and/or villians in action movie history, wever still interesting enough to keep you interested in the story and special effects.
I do have several quibbles with the movie with the movie, but they are all minor, and again depend on how much one is willing to "go with it"
For example, it was almost funny how much property damage Joh Cena's character was allowed to get away with, all for the sake of saving his girlfriend. Considering he is a wrestler turned actor, he didn't have many opportunities to demonstrate his "hand to hand" combat techniques. The final fight scene was a bit choppy and seemed out of whack, timeline wise, considering time was a crucial element of the ongoing plotline. Not to mention the villian's demise was rather "uncreative" in comparision to most other big budget action flicks over the last 20 years or so.
In short, as far other Harlan films, it ranks just below "Die hard 2, Deep Blue Sea, and "Cliffhanger", but is still well worth watching for anyone who is looking for a high adrelanine action movie, whic... With his limit dialog and the use of a Die Hard villain with Speed style plot twists, Make this worth watching. The only thing that drove me crazy and made me a bit nautious was the dredful camera work, it looks like they filmed the whole thing with a flip video held by a guy who has parkisans. The ending camera work is so bad you can not tell what is happening in the shots. I am hoping it will look better on the small screen with the dvd. Was this review helpful? My son and I went to this movie to be entertained and we were. Thats how we approach every movie we see. To be entertained. 12 rounds was a good movie with plenty of action. I seldom ever agree with critics as they generally "five star" some terrible movies. There are some they get right from time-to-time. 12 Rounds was exactly what it was intended. so enjoy it. If you don't like John Cena or WWE product then don't see it. Go see a Pixar or a Disney movie where you can pick apart the colors chosen for the characters or question the illustrators motivation from scene-to-scene. Better yet, stay home and watch American Idol and leave the movie going to those of us who enjoy it. Was this review helpful?
