If a guy runs into a girl like this in the real world; run the other way! The character of Summer shows how selfish some people can be. Even though she tells the guy she doesn't want a commitment, she leads him on and on. I was really disturbed how she hurts him emotionally, again and again. This poor guy is so love struck he becomes blinded and stupid not to run the other way. If there really are girls out in the real world like this, shame on you! If this is the meaning of friends with benefits, I wouldn't want this firend. I was really hoping one of his firends (Max Gruber from Criminal Minds) would step in and save the day, but he doesn't. Although there is a disclaimer at the beginning of this movie that it is not about any one individual; I really think the writer and/or producer must have had one or more of the experiences portrayed in this film. May be it was too realistic for me. I like to be entertained and like to leave with a good feeling. Was this review helpful? Honestly it was even better than I had originally thought. Not the normal hollywood love story. Very unique in many ways. Also the acting was tremendous as well. Have been listening to the soundtrack as well since I watched the movie. Can't wait to see it again! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  Rainy Saturday AfternoonPosted: 8/18/2009A review of (500) Days of Summer by feffienookie This is definitely a movie I would expect to watch on TV on a rainy Saturday...along with others like 100 Girls, She's All That, etc. I LOVE Zooey and thing she's a great actress, but this movie didn't even look like she was acting...it seemed her personality and that everyone around her was hard at acting while she was sitting out back having a soda or something...not what we pay for in terms of "entertainment".
I guess I went into this expecting it to be very, very funny and I think I laughed only three or four times...one being the very final scene that I assume was inserted so that I would leave laughing thinking it was a great movie...not so. I laughed and sat there for a second and decided it was NOT worth the $10 I had paid.
BTW....for the record, this is typically my style of movie, so not liking it almost makes it even worse. Was this review helpful?
