Tweety and Sylvester is a marvelous collection of Warner Bros. cartoons from the 1940s and 1950s, boasting picture and sound quality far superior to those many "public domain" animated videos glutting the market. Opening the program is A Tale of Two Kitties (1942), wherein Tweety (billed on the model sheets as "Orson"!) makes her film debut as she fends off the hungry advances of a team of Abbott-and-Costello cats. Following two more "Tweety" cartoons, Sylvester the cat solos in a trio of his own vehicles, including his 1945 debut in Life with Feathers. The final attraction is the Oscar-winning Tweety/Sylvester romp Tweety Pie (1947). The various directorial hands represented in Tweety and Sylvester include Frizt Freleng and Bob Clampett. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
