| Micky loses his girlfriend Brenda (Venita Wolf) to a body-building bully named Bulk ({David Draper). To build up Micky's muscles -- and self-confidence -- his Monkee pals Peter and Davy consult a health guru named Shah-Ku (Monte Landis). This was one of a handful of episodes in which Mike Nesmith (who was on medical leave) did not appear. Rather than try to camouflage Mike's absence, the other Monkees draw attention to it with their oft-repeated lament "I wish Mike were here." Songs: "Sunny Girfriend" and "Love is Only Sleeping". First seen on October 16, 1967, "99-Pound Weakling" was written by Gerald Gardner, Dee Caruso, and Neil Burstyn. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide | |
