On this elaborate CBS game show, two weekly contestants vied for a grand prize of $10 million by endeavoring to guess the results of national conducted surveys. Each game began with five questions valued at $1000; each correct answer increased the value of the prize by multiples of ten. As the amount of cash grew larger, the estimated poll percentages grew narrower, with questions based on samplings of 30, 20 and finally 10 percent of those polled. Throughout the game, the contestants were asked to risk at least 90 percent of their accumulated winnings to continue playing. Put as simply as possible, the winner was determined not by his or her knowledge, but by the ability to second-guess the American Public. Packaged by the producers of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Power of 10 was hosted by comedian Drew Carey; the series debuted August 7, 2007, a scant few days after Carey had been chosen as successor to Bob Barker on another CBS game show, The Price is Right. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
