Case file: Holy vodka martini, Batman! According to Andy
Lane and Paul Simpson's book "The Bond Files," the beloved star of the high-camp
"Batman" TV series was
considered by then-producers Albert Broccoli
... more and Harry Saltzman as a possible replacement for Sean Connery, who left the series for the first time
after 1967's "You Only Live Twice." Broccoli and Saltzman were not always known
for guiding Bond in the right direction ("Live and Let Die," anyone?), but surely even
considering the campiest (and very American) Caped Crusader for the suave,
dangerous Bond might have put a fatal bullet in the franchise after just five
films. (Paul Smith/Featureflash)Close
