Jim Carrey: We know the Oscars are unjust;
we can't believe Jim Carrey hasn't even been nominated for one single
performance (um, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," Academy? Hello?). We
know the actor's probably been a little miffed about it, but that doesn't mean
he
... morehas to take it out on everyone by making movies like "The Number 23." Alright, maybe that is a little unfair --
after all, the premise of the picture might have been interesting, and director
Joel Schumacher, though hacky as all get-out, has made some
hit entertainments in his day (though he did direct Carrey in "Batman Forever" -- ouch). But the movie was of no help to
Carrey's already troubled career path (last year, two of his projects, "Used
Guys" and "A Little Game," fell apart) and his questionable deal with Warner
Bros., which Hollywood Deadline writer Nikki Finke wrote: "... could just turn
out to be the worst talent deal ever." Again, ouch. Come on Academy, just
nominate him for something; at this point we don't care what. It looks like six
movies are possibly in the works, so there's got to be a gem among them. For
this sometimes comic genius, we certainly hope so. (New Line
