Ewwww Velvet: Hear that? It's the sound of the velvet industry collectively smacking its forehead and wondering how it all went so horribly, horribly wrong. Star Jones and Al Reynolds get both tactile and tacky at the Emmys as they model matching soft-to-the-touch togs with ... moremediocre results. In a printed velvet jacket, Al is just a cravat and pipe away from completing his Hugh Hefner Halloween costume, while the slimmed-down Star seems to have raided Prince's "Purple Rain" hand-me-downs and fashioned a plunging ruched gown that finally explains why it is that doves cry.
