Amy Polumbo, Miss New Jersey 2007: Some entity calling
itself the Committee to Save Miss America forwarded compromising photos of the
new Miss New Jersey to the pageant board and also released them to the media.
Polumbo hit the "Today" show, "The O'Reilly Factor" and "MSNBC With
... more Dan Abrams"
to defend the images that, although goofy, depicted no overt sexuality, nudity
or floating crosses (see: Miss France). The controversy? Neither controversial
nor the least bit titillating. It was such a nonissue that Polumbo's attorney
even announced that this was not a (weak) publicity stunt from Polumbo's own
camp. Whatever it was, it barely added up to Miss Much Ado About Nothing.
