Fronting '80s pop/new wave band 'Til Tuesday, Aimee Mann was known equally for her spiky, bleached-blonde mop of hair as her soulful and introspective lyrics on songs such as "Voices Carry" and "Coming Up Close." Branching off into solo work in the early 1990s, her stripped-down,... more word-heavy sound won her raves from indie fans and a gig scoring the odd 1999 film "Magnolia." She's pictured performing in London in 2005.
